DEPARTMENT: Information Systems Please note that this position can be hired at different levels within the Analyst job family, based on number of years of experience and Education – Associate (Level 1) through Consultant level (Level 4). POSITION CONCEPT A Systems Analyst develops applications; implements software packages, integrates applications, and provides 24x7 application support. Collaborates on all phases of the software development life-cycle (SDLC) with a focus on the application design, development, and implementation phases. Utilizes appropriate development tools and technologies in keeping with the IT architecture. ADVANCEMENT IN PROGRESSION Advancement to a higher level is based on value added to the Company through increased duties, responsibilities, and accomplishments. Advancement is not automatic, i.e. based solely on time in the job, but will be based on direct observation of the employee’s performance, accomplishments, qualifications, and the business and/or technical needs of the department. Level 1 - Associate Systems Analyst The Associate Systems Analyst develops software of limited complexity. Provides primary support for one or more applications. Participates on Application Development and Support teams. Works under direct supervision. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develops software of limited complexity based on specifications provided. Implements software packages for which limited configuration and integration is required with minimal vendor contact. Integrates applications where the complexity of interfaces is limited and based on specifications provided. Provides 24x7 primary support for one or more applications typically classified as ‘niche’ or ‘core’, but not ‘mission-critical’. May provide secondary support for mission-critical applications. Supports the request and analysis phases of SDLC by assisting with documentation and estimates. Executes the design, development, and implementation phases of SDLC by producing the prescribed deliverables under the guidance of more senior staff. Participates on an Application Development and Support team as well as project teams under the direction of their manager, senior team members, or project managers. Acquires and maintains knowledge of business areas relevant to projects and application support assignments. Acquires and maintains appropriate technical skills. QUALIFICATIONS Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems or equivalent discipline. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, additional years related experience may be considered. Related Experience Required: Minimum one year of experience in systems analysis, design, and development. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, a minimum high school diploma and 4+ additional years related experience may be considered. Level 2 - Systems Analyst The Systems Analyst develops software of moderate complexity based on specifications provided. Provides primary and/or secondary support for one or more applications. Participates on Application Development and Support team. May serve as Technical Lead on small projects. Works under moderate supervision and may oversee contract resources and/or junior staff. QUALIFICATIONS Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems or equivalent discipline. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, additional years related experience may be considered. Related Experience Required: Two years of experience in systems analysis, design, and development. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, a minimum high school diploma and 4+ additional years related experience may be considered. Level 3 - Senior Systems Analyst The Senior Systems Analyst develops complex software and integrates applications with complex interfaces based on specifications provided. Creates and reviews technical design specifications. Works under limited supervision and mentors junior staff. QUALIFICATIONS Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems or equivalent discipline. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, additional years related experience may be considered. Related Experience Required: Six years of experience in systems analysis, design, and development. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, a minimum high school diploma and 4+ additional years related experience may be considered. Level 4 - Systems Analyst Consultant The Systems Analyst Consultant leads complex software development projects. Leads selection and implementation of software packages and drives substantial interaction with vendor resources. Serves as subject matter expert in technical discipline. Works under minimal supervision and mentors and directs junior staff. May serve as backup to Manager in a limited capacity. QUALIFICATIONS Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems or equivalent discipline. One or more professional certifications in specific job-related disciplines. Related Experience Required: Ten years of experience in systems analysis, design, and development.
