Production Manager - 2nd Shift 4pm – 2:30am Monday – Thursday (Friday/Saturday as needed – during peak season mid May – Sept) We are KIK We create the products and brands that people trust to clean, sanitize, and protect their homes, pools, and cars. The Production & Distribution Manager is the key member of the Site Leadership Team. The responsibilities include overall management of an assigned high-volume chemical and consumer products manufacturing plant. The accountabilities also include creating an engaged plant culture that can meet and/ or exceed operational and business performance expectations, budget management, driving EH&S requirements, quality, production, warehousing, all while maintaining the required safety standards. This position will report directly to the Site Plant Manager. Essential Job Functions • Drive key departmental metrics related to safety, quality, cost and production to ensure budget goals are met or exceeded • Leads key productivity initiatives that may involve members of cross-functional teams from other shifts or departments • Oversee programs to deliver positive employee relations, safety, communications, yield improvement, technology transfer, process improvement to support operating and strategic goals. • Drive continuous improvement (waste/cost reduction, productivity improvement, cycle time reduction) through good manufacturing practices • Ensures the success of all operational and maintenance metrics including delivery, productivity improvement, material inventory and quality improvement • Communicate daily with production planning and counterparts regarding safety, quality, scheduling, delivery, workload capacity and staffing issues. • Analysis of equipment performance to identify continuous improvement opportunities. • Manage and evaluate overall an individual’s performance within the department (adherence to standard work, attendance, safety, code of conduct, etc.), mentoring and developing the team to continue to grow their technical and interpersonal skills • Drive rapid problem solving/root cause analysis from the production floor. • Achieve cost reduction targets, reduce waste, improve quality, identify and resolve ergonomic issues. • Understands and identifies EH&S Hazards, risks and controls of the operations and activities at the site. • Drive the creation and improvement of standardized work. • Leads DC quality programs and initiatives to ensuring quality KPI are met or exceeded while managing customer returns processes. • Utilizes tools such as performance appraisals, cross training matrices and succession planning to develop and improve the capabilities of all associates by demonstrating the skills and behaviors associated with outstanding performance. • Inspires facility wide teamwork by developing a culture of respect and employee involvement. • Monitors and participates in daily GEMBA walks. Tracks and assesses trends of posted metrics and provides updates and recommendations to Director of Distribution. • Uses PDCA or DMAIC to accurately identify, document, change and maintain process improvements. • Proactively manages all DC related capacity constraints, including but not limited to people, space, and equipment utilizing appropriate resource planning tools. • Develops relationships and metrics with carriers to ensure that KIK is receiving the most economic and efficient service for our customers. Participates in carrier QBR’s with Transportation. • Leads distribution functions in current/future technologies and potential applications. • Leads the understanding and application of all lean methodologies, tools, and concepts. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in related field or 5 years or more of equivalent experience in a manufacturing facility with lean manufacturing practices. Engineering Degree preferred. • Knowledge of packaging or co-packaging and chemical manufacturing. • Thorough understanding of manufacturing plant operations (industry experience must include manufacturing). • Excellent communication skills; be well organized and a team player. • Detail oriented and accurate, able to multitask and prioritize workload. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. • Ability to work independently and to interact effectively with all levels of the organization. • Experience with integrated/computerized manufacturing systems. JDE experience is preferred. • Proficient with Microsoft applications – strong understanding of Excel • Excellent organizational, analytical, investigation, problem solving, communication skills and be a team player. • Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing or 5S experience preferred • Leadership expertise in distribution, transportation, inventory control, and customer service. • Experience in facility design, layout, and consolidation and knowledge of the selection, specification and procurement of storage mediums and material handling equipment. • Experience in developing Key Performance Indicators in a distribution environment. • Strong practical knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies applied to distribution including kaizen leadership, visual controls, and 6S.
