KIK Consumer Products is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Manager to lead our manufacturing operations. As a key member of our Site Leadership Team, you will be responsible for the overall management of our high-volume chemical and consumer products manufacturing plant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive key departmental metrics related to safety, quality, cost, and production to ensure budget goals are met or exceeded.
- Lead key productivity initiatives that may involve members of cross-functional teams from other shifts or departments.
- Oversee programs to deliver positive employee relations, safety, communications, yield improvement, technology transfer, and process improvement to support operating and strategic goals.
- Drive continuous improvement through good manufacturing practices, waste reduction, cost reduction, and productivity improvement.
- Ensure the success of all operational and maintenance metrics, including delivery, productivity improvement, material inventory, and quality improvement.
- Communicate daily with production planning and counterparts regarding safety, quality, scheduling, delivery, workload capacity, and staffing issues.
- Analyze equipment performance to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Manage and evaluate individual performance within the department, mentoring and developing the team to continue to grow their technical and interpersonal skills.
- Drive rapid problem-solving and root cause analysis from the production floor.
- Achieve cost reduction targets, reduce waste, improve quality, identify and resolve ergonomic issues.
- Understand and identify EH&S hazards, risks, and controls of the operations and activities at the site.
- Drive the creation and improvement of standardized work.
- Lead DC quality programs and initiatives to ensure quality KPIs are met or exceeded while managing customer returns processes.
- Utilize tools such as performance appraisals, cross-training matrices, and succession planning to develop and improve the capabilities of all associates.
- Inspire facility-wide teamwork by developing a culture of respect and employee involvement.
- Monitor and participate in daily GEMBA walks, tracking and assessing trends of posted metrics, and providing updates and recommendations to the Director of Distribution.
- Use PDCA or DMAIC to accurately identify, document, change, and maintain process improvements.
- Proactively manage all DC-related capacity constraints, including people, space, and equipment, utilizing appropriate resource planning tools.
- Develop relationships and metrics with carriers to ensure KIK receives the most economic and efficient service for our customers.
- Lead distribution functions in current and future technologies and potential applications.
- Lead the understanding and application of all lean methodologies, tools, and concepts.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or 5 years or more of equivalent experience in a manufacturing facility with lean manufacturing practices.
- Knowledge of packaging or co-packaging and chemical manufacturing.
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing plant operations, including industry experience in manufacturing.
- Excellent communication skills, be well organized, and a team player.
- Detail-oriented and accurate, able to multitask and prioritize workload.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Experience with integrated/computerized manufacturing systems, JDE experience preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft applications, strong understanding of Excel.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, investigation, problem-solving, communication skills, and be a team player.
- Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, or 5S experience preferred.
- Leadership expertise in distribution, transportation, inventory control, and customer service.
- Experience in facility design, layout, and consolidation, and knowledge of the selection, specification, and procurement of storage mediums and material handling equipment.
- Experience in developing Key Performance Indicators in a distribution environment.
- Strong practical knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies applied to distribution, including kaizen leadership, visual controls, and 6S.
