POSITION SUMMARY:

Perform a variety of assembly and wiring operations at various levels of assemblies, working from engineering drawings, schematics and/or wiring diagrams. Examples of assemblies include electrical and microwave circuits, Electro-optical and mechanical systems.

Wire previously installed components and subassemblies into main assemblies and perform assembly of components. Perform a variety of harness and cable assembly installations. Must meet eligibility requirements to access US classified information.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  1. Utilize "Assembly Instructions", drawings, blueprints and/or schematics to perform bench builds of various wire assemblies
  2. Utilize various type cables, harnesses, printed circuit cards (PTH & SMT) and chassis wiring
  3. Use various types of potting and epoxy compounds, wiring on or near optics and other assigned work
  4. Perform a variety of functions including clamping, checking clearances, crimping, wire dressing, soldering and mechanical assembly of components
  5. Maintain appropriate production records
  6. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly manner
  7. Observe and follow all safety rules and regulations
  8. Perform other similar and related duties as required or assigned by supervisor


QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

- High School Diploma or Trade School + specialized training

- 1+ years' of familiarity with solder processes and Resistor (IPC) color code

- Must be able to read and interpret assembly instructions, engineering drawings, blue prints, wiring diagrams and schematics (willing to train the right candidate)

- 1+ years' of electronic assembly experience or equivalent within the aerospace, defense, medical industry preferred (Ability to become IPC 620 and J Standard Certified)

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work Environment/Equipment Used:

- Light manufacturing/production

- ESD (Electro Static Discharge) controlled

- Occasional exposure to chemicals and epoxies

- Personal protective equipment (ESD lab coats, ESD safety shoes, safety glasses)

- HVAC controlled

Essential Physical Tasks:

- Must be able to sit or stand for up to 8-10 hours

- Fine motor dexterity

- Hand-eye coordination and depth perception

- Concentrated mental/visual demand, periodic use of magnification

- Ability to lift 30 lbs. and 50 lbs. assisted

- Must be able to recognize colors
