- # of Beds: 21 (also have 4 overflow beds on OB - OB generally provides care for these patients).
- Nurse Patient Ratios: 1:4 days 1:5 nights (ratios may be flexible depending on staffing).
- Required certifications: BLS, Prefer ACLS
- Common diagnoses/Types of patients: General MedSurg - generally 18+ (occasional younger
patient if post-surgical) - surgical, ortho, COPD, CHF, diabetes, sepsis, dementia, cellulitis, AMS,
pneumonia, SBO, COVID, influenza, etc.
- Experience/Must have skills: 2-3 years of experience required - need to be able to come in & hit
the ground running. Must be able to read & interpret tele. Prefer experience at smaller sized
facilities. Prefer travel experience.
- Are RNs required to titrate drips: Only heparin per protocol
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin per protocol
- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift: Charge nurse on each shift, will take patient load as needed -
is the last to take patients & only if unit staff are above census.
- Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit: CNAs - 2 during the day plus 1 HUC; 2
overnight, no HUC. General CNA duties - vitals, ADLs, etc.
- RT Equipment: No vented patients. Cpap, Bipap, highflow - RT sets up; however, only in-house
during day, utilize 'RT now' at night, which is a remote RT via computer.
- Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit: No tele techs. RNs must be able to read & interpret tele.
RNs responsibility to read tele, print strips, & chart on them. Charge to assist with questions.
Spacelab monitors.
- Shifts & Scheduling: 12Hr shifts, 7a-7p/7p-7a. No self-scheduling. No block scheduling. Manager
sets schedule.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, potential to be every 3rd. Weekend is Fri/Sat/Sun for
both shifts.
- Holiday Requirement: At least 1 holiday during the holiday season. Travelers expected to fill in
where needed. Manager will take into consideration if contract falls during multiple holidays.
- Is there Call or a Standby requirement: None
- Floating Requirements: None
- Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy blue, not provided. If wear an undershirt or scrub jacket, needs to be
black or navy blue. Plain - no advertisements or sayings.
- How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation: 1 shift of orientation on the unit
