Facility Details:
Number of Beds: 21 (with 4 overflow beds available)
Nurse-Patient Ratios:
1:4 during the day, 1:5 at night (flexibility based on staffing needs).
Common Patient Diagnoses:
General MedSurg patients aged 18 and older, including surgical, orthopedic, COPD, CHF, diabetes, sepsis, dementia, cellulitis, acute mental status changes, pneumonia, SBO, COVID, influenza, etc.
Experience and Skills Required:
Minimum of 2-3 years of nursing experience is essential. Candidates should be prepared to quickly adapt and perform effectively. Proficiency in reading and interpreting telemetry is preferred. Experience in smaller healthcare facilities and travel nursing is advantageous.
Medication Management:
RNs are required to titrate heparin drips as per protocol.
Charge Nurse Responsibilities:
A Charge Nurse is present on each shift and may take on patient loads as necessary.
Support Staff:
CNAs available: 2 during the day and 2 overnight, with 1 Health Unit Coordinator during the day.
Respiratory Therapy Equipment:
No ventilated patients; equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen.
Telemetry Responsibilities:
RNs are responsible for reading telemetry, printing strips, and documenting findings.
Shifts and Scheduling:
12-hour shifts, rotating between 7 AM - 7 PM and 7 PM - 7 AM. Scheduling is managed by the department manager.
Weekend and Holiday Requirements:
Every other weekend is required, with the possibility of every third weekend. At least one holiday shift is expected during the holiday season.
Dress Code:
Navy blue scrubs are required; undershirts or scrub jackets must be black or navy blue without any logos or phrases.
Orientation:
One shift of unit-specific orientation will be provided.
