Job Description: The Rapid Access Unit (RAU) Supervisor provides oversight and supervision to the Behavioral Crisis Center Technicians. The RAU Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the Rapid Access Unit and Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit. Essential Job Functions: Serves in the role of Rapid Access Unit Supervisor, utilizing professional experience and training to meet the overall behavioral health needs of clients seeking treatment in order to stabilize crises and make referrals for ongoing care. Participates in required staff development activities to include a minimum of 40 annual training hours required by licensing entities and CARF. Reviews daily and ensures accurate and timely documentation such as, but not limited to, shift reports, incident reports, electronic health record (EHR) forms, observation logs, and communication logs that meet required timelines. All documentation must be completed before the end of an employee’s shift. Participates as an active member of the treatment team by facilitating and modeling interactions that will ensure the center is a safe haven for crisis stabilization. Provides direct and indirect supervision of all assigned staff and clients in the building. Provide ongoing evaluation and assessment for professional development of staff. Consistently monitor, evaluate, and provide feedback on staff ability to provide crisis stabilization and behavioral health support, along with building and program expectations, under the supervision and guidance of the treatment team and direct supervisor. Arrives to work prepared to actively participate in all required duties and responsibilities and meetings which include, but are not limited to, staff scheduling, daily building inspections, team meetings, serve as safety officer, provide support to staff and clients in heightened risk situations, data collection, program evaluation, scheduling all-staff meetings, facilitate individual supervision, and other duties as assigned. Supervisor will monitor that end-of-shift responsibilities are being completed by all staff on a weekly basis. Review job applications daily, schedule interviews, facilitate interviews, coordinate with Human Resources on all new hires, provide regular individual supervision and evaluation, facilitate corrective action when appropriate and at the guidance of leadership. Generates staff schedules to include monitoring and approving replacements, overtime, vacation and other absence requests and approves time cards. Provide on-call for after hours and weekends to be available as needed for scheduling needs as well as staff assistance. Oversee and coordinate facility cleanliness and maintenance activities for all internal and external operating systems. Arrange for purchase, necessary repair and/or replacement of household equipment/machinery and maintain up to date records on all transactions such as maintenance log, van log, etc. Coordinate and keep records on various health/facility inspections and drills on a monthly basis (example: fire, health, USDA, tornado, etc.) Assist in answering phone, transferring calls, and relaying messages to the appropriate staff. Obtain from staff, incident reports, and review for completion and accuracy. If there is a staff injury, Supervisor will report to Human Resources as soon as possible following the incident, no more than 24 hours after. Exhibits willingness to accept constructive feedback and implement recommended changes. Other duties as assigned by leadership. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients, employees of the organization, family members and other contacts in the community Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables within standardized situations Ability to establish effective relationships via telephone, e-mail and personal contacts Ability to work with a variety of human problems and the competence to handle crisis intervention Ability to enter clinical documentation into a computerized record system. Aptitude to develop, coordinate, and evaluates services within assigned program responsibilities. Capable of communicating ideas clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to produce clear and concise reports. Experience and Education Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years of age Must have at least a High School Diploma or GED with experience in Human Services or related field. A Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field is preferred. Supervisory Requirements: Communicate the strategic direction of the organization and encourage participation by all employees. Provide leadership and guidance to all aspects of the department. Take an active role in monitoring the identification, development, and execution of strategic objectives. Involve, as appropriate, all employees in order to achieve goals. Effectively communicate to employees any changes and news worthy events within the department or company. Handle difficult employee situations directly, using appropriate discretion and Human Resource advice to show respect for the individual Champion change and effectively manage the implementation of new ideas. Reinforces team approach throughout functions; support and solicit input from team members at all levels with the company. Employment Requirements: Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record and abuse/neglect. Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment. All training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter. Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record and current auto insurance. Shall successfully complete CPR, First Aid, CPI and Medication Administration training. Must complete 40 annual training hours. Must complete annual TB tests and communicable disease exams. Must obtain certification in the approved emergency safety interventions model and maintain certification in order to train employees. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk and sometimes sit for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is also required to be able to walk and sometimes run up and down stairs. Must be able to react and move quickly in emergency or crisis situations. This position requires staff to work with volatile individuals whose demeanor may change quickly. Specific individual behaviors may include hitting, kicking, biting, pinching, scratching, hair pulling or other such behavior(s). Staff may be required to escort or restrain escalated individuals utilizing Non-Violent Crisis Intervention emergency procedures at any time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
