Bachelor’s degree in software, computer, computer science, or computer systems engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience is required. Agile experience preferred.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is seeking a Software Engineer (Entry-level) to join us in our Scottsdale, AZ location.  This is a great opportunity to utilize and grow the software engineering concepts you developed while obtaining your Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Systems Engineering.  You’ll get to work side by side with new and experienced teammates on Rescue 21, a United States Coast Guard program.

Rescue 21 is the Coast Guard’s advanced command, control and direction-finding communications system created to better locate mariners in distress and save lives and property at sea and on navigable rivers. By harnessing state-of-the-market technology, the General Dynamics-built Rescue 21 system enables the Coast Guard to execute its search and rescue missions with far greater agility and efficiency.

As a Software Engineer (Entry-level) some of the opportunities you will have to use and grow your current skills include:

  • Code, test, integrate, and document software solutions
  • Participate in internal software peer reviews
  • Receive mentoring from senior software engineers
  • Work on cross-functional teams with test, systems, IT, and cyber security
  • Interface with project leaders and other professionals within the Engineering department
