Summary of Role

Manage and support technical and policy-oriented projects with working groups and task forces comprising representatives of senior leaders from the Anti-Fraud Collaboration (AFC) and auditing profession. Work with the Center for Audit Quality's (CAQ) staff of motivated, enterprising, and collegial professionals, to identify, develop and seek consensus on emerging technical and public policy issues affecting the public company auditing profession. Help conduct research and develop thought leadership on auditing and financial reporting matters, including fraud and core topics such as emerging technology, professional skepticism, and corporate culture.

About the CAQ

CAQ is a nonpartisan public policy organization serving as the voice of U.S. public company auditors and matters related to the audits of public companies. To achieve our mission, we:
  • Promote high-quality performance by U.S. public company auditors;
  • Convene capital market stakeholders to advance the discussion of critical issues affecting audit quality, U.S. public company reporting, and investor trust in the capital markets;
  • Informed by independent research and analyses, champion policies and standards that bolster and support the effectiveness and responsiveness of U.S. public company auditors and audits to dynamic market conditions.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Work with and under the direction of the Director, manage projects and meetings of the Anti-Fraud Collaboration, working groups, and project task forces to advance the CAQ mission.
  • Play a key role in developing technical content for webcasts, roundtables, thought leadership, and other educational opportunities focused on fraud risk mitigation and fraud deterrence and detection.
  • Conduct research, develop technical content, and thought leadership for new and emerging fraud, auditing, and financial reporting issues.
  • Manage and coordinate activities and meetings of CAQ committees, task forces, and working groups involving member firms and stakeholders.
  • Respond to technical inquiries from the collaboration and CAQ member firms.
  • Develop and manage projects, keeping current on agreed upon deadlines and necessary actions.
  • Engage with members of the collaboration, public company auditing profession, and regulatory staff to foster a positive working relationship with the CAQ.
  • Work closely with and under the direction of CAQ Professional Practice leadership to assist in the preparation of CAQ comment letters on key regulatory policy proposals issued by the PCAOB, SEC, and other standard setters and regulators.
  • Monitor activity of public company auditing standard setters and regulators and attend open meetings. Summarize and report internally on relevant information. In addition, attend conferences relevant to fraud and public company auditing and report internally on relevant information discussed.
  • Keep current on US and global regulatory and policy developments relevant to fraud, risk and compliance, and the public company auditing profession, and provide perspective on impact to the CAQ mission and objectives.
  • Coordinate and/or communicate CAQ messaging during meetings (both internal and external), roundtables, and conference panels with firm executives, members of the public company auditing profession, and college students.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • A mix of strong verbal communication, presentation, and writing skills.
  • Ability to research member firm fraud and auditing inquiries and analyze emerging issues.
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to develop knowledge of, AI technology-enabled applications.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple deliverables and/or workstreams concurrently.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to analyze large and/or complex data sets.
  • Proven ability to take initiative in problem solving by proposing possible solutions to senior management.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully administer projects and timelines, including the ability to work well under tight time constraints.
  • Demonstrated experience working in cross-functional high performing teams to meet deadlines and achieve established goals.
  • Self-starter, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment.
Required Experience, Qualifications & Education
  • 3 to 5 years of recent public company auditing or comparable experience.
  • Working knowledge of PCAOB auditing standards, coupled with a strong desire to broaden your technical skills.
  • CPA license.
Preferred Experience, Qualifications & Education
  • Forensic accounting, risk and compliance, or similar experience/exposure working on fraud-related issues (e.g., fraud risk assessment, fraud inquiries, transaction testing, investigations, etc.).
  • CFE certification (or desire to obtain a CFE certification).
