The JustFOIA Quality Assurance Engineer collaborates closely with the development team to ensure the delivery of high-quality software applications to our clients. They play a critical role in the smooth release of products, ensuring that they function as intended and are user-friendly and easy to understand. The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for identifying, tracking, and reporting any escaped bugs to the development team, ensuring they are thoroughly tested and resolved. Their efforts ensure that the software meets both functional and user experience standards, maintaining the highest level of client satisfaction.

What you'll do:

  • Thoroughly understand project requirements and goals to produce high-quality deliverables
  • Review functional and design specifications to ensure comprehensive understanding of system test requirements
  • Develop, execute, and maintain advanced formal test plans to ensure the delivery of quality software applications
  • Write, automate, and execute test cases/scripts, maintaining involvement in the entire testing lifecycle
  • Proficiency in commonly used quality assurance tools
  • Define, track, and analyze quality assurance metrics such as defects, defect counts, test results, and test status
  • Collect, analyze, and leverage data for continuous software process evaluation and improvements
  • Provide detailed demonstrations of fully tested features for user acceptance testing
  • Document all issues, assist in resolution, and ensure proper follow-up
  • Deliver comprehensive quality process training to technical staff and act as an internal quality consultant
  • Participate in and, when necessary, lead conference calls with stakeholders
  • Research and apply emerging technologies to enhance project and program outcomes
  • Update and maintain documentation
What you'll need to be successful:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field; or equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree; AA or AS degree from an accredited community college plus 3+ years of relevant quality assurance technical experience or 5+ years of relevant quality assurance technical experience, including systems development, testing and/or business experience in lieu of education requirements
  • Proficiency in Agile Methodology and other software development methodologies
  • Expertise in database testing within Microsoft SQL Server environments, including designing and manipulating test data, validating stored procedures, jobs, triggers, and replication
  • Proven ability to create clear, concise, detail-oriented test plans and test cases
  • Deep knowledge of the software development lifecycle and quality assurance processes
  • Experience with project management best practices, risk and issue management, and expectations management
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects with competing priorities
  • Strong team player with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational, coordination, and planning skills
