Job purpose

Participates in the daily care of residential and withdrawal management patients as directed by the unit nurse.

Duties and responsibilities

Accurately implements all directives from the Nursing Supervisor/ VP of Nursing/Medical Director
  • Attends all required trainings and department meetings as required.
  • Demonstrates high professional/ethical standards and works well with others as part of the treatment team. Has a therapeutic approach of being empathetic, respectful, and motivational.
  • Demonstration of the ability to perform the skills that support CAT nursing competencies
  • Completes any administrative duties needed for patient care
  • Completes timely, accurate and thorough documentation on all patient care activities
  • Administers medications and documents per procedure and protocol
  • Monitors all patients for adverse drug reactions and completes required documentation
  • Collect urine specimens as directed by unit nurse
  • Assists nurse with any and all duties necessary as allowed by certification and Ohio law.
  • Provides education to the patients to promote an understanding of the impact drugs and alcohol have on the medical/mental health of individuals
  • Utilizes Sigmund /Aura Electronic Medical Record system for all appropriate documentation
  • Reports to work promptly at assigned hours. Dependable, completes work in a timely manner. Conscientious about assignments demonstrated by accurate and thorough work ethic
  • Job duties and scheduled work-times are subject to change according to agency need per CAT Policy/Procedure.
  • Verbalizes understanding of nursing schedule, call offs, on call needs, and mandatory overtime as it may apply per CAT policy.
  • Responsible for other duties that may be defined by the Nurse Supervisor/VP of Nursing/ or Medical Director.
Qualifications
  • State of Ohio Certified Medication Aide
  • CPR Certification required
  • Knowledge of addictions treatment is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Joint Commission and ODADAS standards is helpful

  • Ability to collaborate effectively - works well with other staff to provide excellent patient care.
  • Ability to identify withdrawal symptoms and addictive behavior of chemically dependent patients.
  • The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with clients, colleagues, and other individuals inside and outside the company while maintaining confidentiality of all patient related information.
Physical requirements

Ability to bend, stoop, reach, lift, stand for long durations, ambulate stairs (up and down), and transport emergency equipment during medical emergencies.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret English
  • Ability to perform simply math in addition to medical dosing conversions
  • Must hold Basic computer skills/knowledge
