The Solar PV Performance Data Scientist will develop, analyze, automate and maintain comprehensive PV performance analysis code

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Stresses the importance that safety is the most important function, ensures that all employees from field team to office follow safe practices while working.
  • Works with other Performance Team members in developing processes to quicken and enhance day to day activities.
  • Developing and maintaining a suite of Performance Analysis python codes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to collect and consolidate necessary data to complete reports and other analytical tools and deliverables.
  • Calculate and analyze energy losses incurred from equipment outages and communicate impacts to relevant internal and external teams.
  • Create high level analysis for determining areas of correlation from Operational and Work Order data.
  • Using internal reporting tools, update existing reports for clients including Operation reports, Vitals, forecasting, etc.
  • Identify operational issues and initiate problem resolution while working with other internal teams.
  • Assist and support in data analytics and other tools development based on Performance Team needs.
  • Maintain clear and accurate operations documents/procedures for internal reference and training purposes.
  • Review and enhance current internal analytics software.
  • Improve upon existing methodologies by fine-tuning model parameters and testing model enhancements.
  • Apply PV performance modeling libraries and tools, like PVLIB and Rdtools, within internal analyses.
  • Troubleshoot performance data along with work order data for accurate reporting.
  • Apply statistical or machine learning knowledge to specific production data
  • Grow into a role of subject matter expertise in PV power plants.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:
  • College degree in data science, programming, engineering or another related technical field preferred
  • 1+ Years experience in data analytics preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and other Office tools
  • Experience with programming languages like Python, R, Java, and others preferred
  • Experience using Git and Github preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of time
  • Broad understanding of the Renewable Energy industry with emphasis on solar PV preferred
  • Foster a spirit of collaboration between teams
  • Experience working for a diverse multi-disciplined company
  • Strong communication skills to clearly articulate vision into an executable plan and clearly communicate details and thoughts to internal/external clients
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and passion for problem solving
