Assistant Director of Finance

Monitor all financial activity related to grants applied for and received by the Muncie campus. Work with Skills Training and CDL programs at the finance level. Campus travel contact and other finance related duties.

Duties and responsibilities included, but not limited to:

  • Assist with development of grant budgets.
  • Process Sponsored Program Fund Request forms and Modification forms.
  • Review all grant requisitions to ensure expenditures comply with granting organizations and College's guidelines.
  • Monitor grant balances. Interact with appropriate college staff to ensure that grant funds are fully utilized, meeting with Project Directors at least quarterly.
  • Monitor and provide general oversight for all grants and projects and escalate any issues to the Vice Chancellor of Finance as needed.
  • Assist with any requested reporting needs for required grant reports and annual SBOA audits.
  • Provide monthly reports on grant activity to Vice Chancellor of Finance and Project Director(s).
  • Review for and follow up on exceptions identified by Systems Office and respond in a timely manner, taking appropriate corrective action, such as journal vouchers or budget modification requests.
  • Prepare financial reports and assist project directors with accurate performance reports.
  • Interact with Systems Office Sponsored Program Accounting and Grant Office staff to ensure compliance with college policy and procedures as the campus Grants Finance Designee. Execute grant compliance monitoring at the campus level.
  • Assist Accounts Receivable with CDL and Skills training documentation.

  • Associate's degree in accounting, finance or related field required. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience with grant budget development, grant accounting and grant reporting preferred.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and implement college policy and procedures is required.
  • Ability to successfully manage and execute multiple grant projects and competing priorities to meet reporting deadlines in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Above average computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office required. Experience with Banner and Workday preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Ability to be proactive and take initiative when managing projects and tasks.
