Monitoring fundamental economic, industrial, and corporate developments by analyzing information from financial publications and services, investment banking firms, government agencies, trade publications, company sources, or personal interviews. Helping inform investment decisions by analyzing financial information to forecast business, industry, or economic conditions. Following and analyzing the dynamics of the US power markets. Maintaining communication with clients which include power producers, private equity firms, commercial banks. Monitoring US developments in the fields of industrial technology, business, finance, and energy. Drawing charts and graphs, using computer spreadsheets to illustrate technical reports. Performing advanced quantitative analysis of energy markets across North America to assess and forecast the future of electric power and fuel markets, prices, power plant operation and valuation, fuel consumption, environmental emissions and compliance, transmission, and regulatory impacts, among other parameters. Formulating and building data-driven models in-house for automating repeated quantitative tasks and addressing unique project requests. Leading third-party consultant engagement, including releasing Request for Proposals (RfP), comparing consultant power and gas projections, reviewing results and reports, and coordinating processes through receipt of final deliverables. Advising clients such as independent power producers, utilities, developers of new generation, and others on issues affecting asset valuation and future evolution of the grid. Building expertise in power industry technology, regulation, and economics through regular participation in industry webinars, courses, events, and conferences related to distributed energy resources and energy sector. Requirements: Masters degree in energy science, electrical engineering, economics, or a similar field, and two years of US power and gas markets consulting/advisory experience. Advanced knowledge in financial concepts such as valuation techniques, accounting, or investing concepts. Advanced knowledge of power and gas modeling such as nodal analysis, power flow metrics, solving gas and transmission constraints. Proficiency in power market modeling, including running security constrained economic dispatch ("SCED") modeling for power plants, and using power flow software tools such as PROMOD and PSLF. 20% domestic travel.
