Purpose & Impact:

As a Child Welfare Specialist, you will offer comprehensive case management services to clients and families while forming meaningful relationships and embodying our core values.

Essential Functions:

  • Accept and manage cases assigned by your supervisor, meeting with children in their homes within 2 working days and completing a Family Assessment within 15 days.
  • Develop collaborative case plans with families, leveraging community resources and assessments to aim for reunification or stable permanency for children.
  • Conduct regular home visits to ensure child safety, adhering to frequency requirements and maintaining open communication with families.
  • Document case activities accurately and promptly in the Florida Safe Families Network database.
  • Engage with community service providers, document service progress, and ensure families receive necessary referrals and support.
  • Prepare timely court documentation, participate in court activities, and collaborate with various stakeholders for effective case management.
  • Conduct safety assessments and create safety plans, arranging emergency services when required.
  • Facilitate parental and sibling visits, ensuring supportive environments for children.
  • Transport children as necessary and complete all Independent Living functions relevant to youth transitioning from care.
  • Attend scheduled meetings, training sessions, and workshops to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Act as an on-call Case Manager as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and adhere to established case management standards and policies.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines while maintaining professionalism and respect for all clients.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements:

  • Valid Florida Driver's License and Insurance.
  • Willingness to travel locally and occasionally out of the area.
  • Ability to operate a computer and perform tasks that may require sitting for extended periods.
  • Flexibility in schedule, light lifting, and on-call rotations as needed.
  • Certified in First Aid/CPR and crisis intervention.

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of one year relevant experience and certification (or commitment to obtain certification within one year).
  • Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field, preferably Social Work.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to navigate case ownership responsibilities effectively.
  • Understanding and sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of clients.
