Washington, United States AEI Full time
Overview

As part of the Social, Cultural, and Constitutional Studies department at the American Enterprise Institute, Senior Fellow Chris Stirewalt, Nonresident Senior Fellow Ruy Teixeira, and Distinguished Senior Fellow Emeritus Karlyn Bowman research politics, public opinion, demographic change, and media trends. The intern assisting them will gain tremendous experience analyzing current and historical political issues while strengthening their writing, editing, and quantitative analysis skills. Projects include assisting with op-ed and report research, helping produce the Ink Stained Wretches podcast, editing and fact-checking, and planning in-person and virtual events.

The ideal candidate will have an educational background in political science or a related field, strong research abilities, editorial experience, curiosity, and a self-directed work ethic. Attention to detail and familiarity with current events, particularly on Capitol Hill and in the White House, are crucial for success in this internship. The department is looking for a candidate who can become an equal member of the politics and public opinion team and provide substantive input on current topics of interest. Familiarity with statistical programs such as R, Stata, and Tableau is a plus.

There will be two start dates for the fall program: September 10 and September 24. While the AEI Internship Program and all related programming will take place in-person in Washington, DC this summer, virtual interns may be accepted on a case by case basis. Please include your prefered start date and note your in-person/virtual preference in your cover letter.
