A Juvenile Justice Technician works to change young lives,support families,and keep communities safe in the following environments: Detention; Long Term Secure Care; Multi-use facilities; and Community-based programs. JJYS team members provide critical support and guidance to youth at-risk for delinquency while they transition into adulthood. JJYS works with at-risk and delinquent youth in a professional team environment to supervise,teach pro-social skills,and attain positive behavioral outcomes. The work assignment may be in a community setting,in a residential shelter or treatment setting,or in a secure youth correctional facility. Utah Division of Juvenile Justice and Youth Services (JJYS)JYS provides a continuum of prevention,intervention,supervision and rehabilitation services and programs to youth offenders while assuring public safety. For more information on Juvenile Justice and Youth Services with the Department of Health and Human Services,please click * * here Principal Duties Work closely with youth ordered into the care and custody of JJYS Monitor visitors and residents within the facility Schedule and coordinate activities for the youth Assist the Control Supervisor by making perimeter checks Resolves potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, lients,and or the public by applying appropriate intervention techniques to people,facilities and property Within the first 90 days after hire,you will participate in one week of New Employee Training to introduce you to principles and practices used in our work with youth and families. You will also participate in one week of verbal and physical de-escalation training to provide skills that will help you work with youth with challenging behaviors. Provide a continuum of intervention,supervision,and rehabilitation programs to youth offenders while assuring public safety. Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing (read and understand information presented in writing) The Ideal Candidate We are looking for a candidate: Who wants to be a part of a thriving team,focused on changing young lives,supporting families,and keeping communities safe. Availability to work rotating shifts,days,swing,graveyard,weekends and holidays. Preference Candidates 19 years of age or older Candidates with a high school diploma or GED Candidates with lived experience in the juvenile justice or child welfare systems Candidates that speak multiple languages Supplemental Information Only applicants invited to interview will be contacted.
