Job Summary
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner for Duke Orthopedics of Raleigh located at the Duke Raleigh Hospital in Raleigh, NC to provide direct patient care services in collaboration with the attending physician and other advanced practice providers for patients requiring Foot and Ankle orthopedic care. The APP will augment a physician's ability to provide medical services to patients in the clinic as well as hospitalized patient rounding at Duke Raleigh Hospital. If RNFA certified, first assist in the operating room at Duke Raleigh Hospital and as well as theDuke Ambulatory Surgery Center Arringdon in Morrisville, NC.
Primary hours will be Monday through Friday with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide care for patients needing foot and ankle orthopedic care by assisting the physician in clinic as well as responsible and accountable for independent patient load/clinic.
- Coordinate patient care including triage, physical exams, collecting and documenting data, conducting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ordering and scheduling laboratory studies, assisting with peri-operative workflow including scheduling, pre-ops, and post-op follow-up, diagnostic procedures (possible joint injection) and professional consultations, and prescribing appropriate interventions and medications.
- Communicate verbally and in writing all pertinent patient information to supervising physician, nursing staff, patient resource manager, home health agency, and other relevant healthcare providers.
- Provide timely documentation in the electronic medical record of all relevant data including results of diagnostic tests; laboratory results; patients' condition and response to therapies/interventions; communications with physician colleagues.
- Respond to patient inquiries and concerns via telephone or EPIC MyChart messages and be accessible to consult with supervising physician as needed.
- Analyze clinical practice patterns so as to provide the best medical care and to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
- Prefer Orthopedics work experience as a Nurse Practitioner. If a recent Nurse Practitioner graduate, clinical rotation as well as experience as a RN in the operating room, clinic or in-patient setting caring for orthopedic patients.
Primary hours will be Monday through Friday with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients.
Job Eligibility Requirements
Education
- Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master's degree in Nursing.
- BLS required.
- Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required.
