The Department of Pediatrics in the Duke University School of Medicine is seeking an outstanding physician at the Associate Professor or Professor level to serve as Chief for the Division of Nephrology. This is a wonderful opportunity to lead a group of outstanding faculty members in their mission of delivering the highest quality care to patients and their families at Duke Childrens Nephrology Department. Proven leadership and excellence in clinical care, education, research, scholarship, and administrative experience are required. Candidates must have a Doctorate of Medicine (or equivalent) and be board-certified in Pediatric Nephrology. Candidates must also have or be eligible for a North Carolina medical license. 

Priorities for the Division Chief of Nephrology is to combine the delivery of outstanding clinical services with world-class research and teaching. The programs in this division are structured to address the most pressing needs facing patients and their families with kidney disease. The division currently includes six clinical and one research faculty, one nurse practitioner, four nurse clinicians, two pediatric nephrology fellows, several clinical research and bench research personnel, and clerical staff. Areas of emphasis include expert diagnosis, treatment and management of all types of nephrological and hypertensive disorders in infants, children, and adolescents.  

Faculty also work closely with members of other divisions including Adult Nephrology, Pediatric Urology and Transplant Surgery.

Duke University School of Medicine: Department of Pediatrics

Duke has a long tradition of excellence in Pediatrics, dating back to Dr. Wilburt C. Davison, who was the first dean of Duke University School of Medicine and also served as the first chair of Pediatrics at Duke. Many of our faculty are leaders in their fields and are members of prestigious national and international organizations, including the Society for Pediatric Research, American Pediatric Society, American Board of Pediatrics, and Institute of Medicine, among others. Our Department currently includes approximately 200 faculty, 75 residents, and 60 subspecialty fellows.
