Senior Manager of DevOps

WIN Waste Innovations is a vertically integrated business with a platform of 50 strategically located collection, transfer and disposal assets. These include waste-to-energy facilities, transfer stations, ash monofills, landfills, and fleets of rail cars and collection vehicles. We process more than 11 million tons of waste annually, converting 6.7 million tons of waste into clean, renewable energy that powers 340,000 homes. We recycle more than 234,000 tons of plastic, paper and metals from the waste stream. The Senior Manager of DevOps is a critical role within the IT department. Reporting to the CIO, the position will contribute to and lead a team responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of cloud software and services. The successful leader will have a proven track record of building and delivering enterprise software using cloud technologies at scale. The position requires a blend of technical expertise, team leadership and operational management skills to ensure efficient and high-quality delivery of solutions in alignment with organizational goals. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Foster and drive innovation, delivering software, database, and cloud solutions that meet stakeholder expectations. Own software development for the design, development, and implementation of company platforms, mobile solutions, and business systems. Improve stability and reliability of cloud-base applications and services. Oversee the design, implementation and maintenance of a scalable and secure infrastructure to support product and tools development ensuring high availability and performance. Lead efforts to automate repetitive tasks, streamline deployment processes, streamline business processes. Establish and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address issues. Implement and enforce best practices for securing infrastructure and applications. Foster strong collaboration between development and operations teams, promoting DevOps culture focused on efficiency, transparency and continuous improvement. Implement IaC principles to manage and provision infrastructure resources efficiently. Create, prioritize, communicate, manage, and execute roadmaps and project plans. Serve as subject matter expert in cloud infrastructure and perform design reviews and consulting with Infrastructure Team to ensure best practices. Shape business requirements in a manner that optimally leverages technology and aligns with architectural strategy. Work with the Data and Analytics team to design and deliver a data integration architecture and platform that integrates information from multiple sources without loss of data quality or timeliness. Partner with the business and IT delivery teams to ensure effective technology solutions. Remain current on industry trends and best practices and incorporate them into the company's strategy and roadmap. Source, recruit, and hire to meet staffing needs. Provide coaching and development feedback to employees. Execute strong and continuous leadership in maintaining a high-quality support team comprised of appropriately skilled individuals. Lead and develop a team of software developers and cloud specialists in a fast-paced environment. Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers. Minimum Education & Experience Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent 10+ years of DevOps Engineering experience 6+ years of experience with coding and scripting 5+ years in a leadership position 5+ years with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) 4+ years of experience with infrastructure design, implementation, and delivery 3+ years with monitoring tools 3+ years of experience working with Agile Development Practices Additional Knowledge, Skills, Licenses/Certification, Abilities & Personal Characteristics (KSLAPs): Strong leadership and management skills. Ability to mentor and guide, including introducing new technologies and ideas Ability to think and plan strategically and tactically. Strong analytical skills and experience; ability to recognize, analyze and solve complex problems. Cloud first mentality Strong data management skills: ability to audit, format, model and analyze large data sets. Strong collaboration skills to partner effectively across various levels of the organization. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills. Strong understanding of project management techniques with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities priorities, tasks, and projects simultaneously. Strong organization and process improvement skills. Ability to communicate effectively with large groups of employees and in one-on-one meetings with employees. Ability to motivate self, accomplish tasks and achieve goals with minimal supervision including self-directed learning. Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines. Ability to anticipate new situations and/or changing demands and respond proactively to enhance the division's/business unit's financial performance. Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and organizational skills, including economics. Ability to demonstrate and utilize effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to identify creative and innovative solutions to resolve problems. Ability to treat confidential information in a discrete and appropriate manner. Proficient Microsoft Office Suite, database, word processing and presentation software. Able to demonstrate respect for all individuals and adhere to the Company's values and business practices. Ability to use personal computer software proficiently, such as word processing, spreadsheets, database managers and electronic mail and integrated mainframe programs.
