Sr. Product Engineer - Boonton, NJ Apply now » Date: Nov 17, 2024 Location: Boonton, NJ, US, 07005 Company: Hubbell Incorporated Job Overview This position involves being a part of the Engineering team that develops complex embedded hardware products in the area of Distribution Switching and Distribution Automation for the electric utility market. The individual in this position will work on New Product Development projects for Distribution Switching products like Reclosers (Single-Phase and Three-Phase), Sectionalizers, Cap Switches, Padmount Switchgear, Line Post Sensors, etc. The individual in this position must be able to participate in a deep level technical conversations about new products being developed across various disciplines – Firmware, Hardware, Mechanical Engineering, GUI development, Type Testing, Functional Testing etc. Additionally, the individual must be able to successfully work with various cross-functional teams such as Manufacturing team, Product Management team, Field Application Engineering team etc. This position is for an engineer who is passionate, proficient and who enjoys working on all aspects of launching new products. The individual must be able to work with a sense of urgency to deliver top-tier-quality solutions to end-users #LI-CH1 A Day In The Life Own various critical tasks on several major New Product Development projects in Distribution Switching/Automation domain, Work with Product Management team for gathering requirements to develop Product Requirements Document PRD). Maintain track record of new feature additions, change requests etc. Perform detailed requirements breakdown and work with individual Design Engineering team members and plan for delivering those requirements, Lead Concept Design Reviews, Detailed Design Reviews, Design Verification Reviews with Chief Engineering office for various NPI/NPD/NPX projects, Own Product troubleshooting for the issues which occur during product development, Lead the problem solving and be resourceful to get those resolved. Provide technical guidance to various team members, as needed, to solve the problem, Define "Design of Experiments" framework to solve problems encountered during development, if required. Champion the use of Azure DevOps (ADO) for creating Project instances, Epics, User stories, Tasks etc. Control and manage DevOps interactions for various projects requirements, Understand Type Testing requirements of NPI/NPD/NPX projects and plan out the testing; Dig into various IEEE/IEC standards to understand type testing requirements as needed. Supervise functional testing of a new product being developed. Define System-level Test plan, Help the testing team conceive various use-cases, corner cases for Product testing. Perform system-level Product testing as required and guide/direct Test Engineering teams, as necessary. What will help you thrive in this role? BSEE, BSCS, BSCE Degree with at least 6 years of industrial experience. Master’s degree preferred. Proven track record for owning product lines for feature additions, sustaining engineering, solving product issues etc. At least 3 years of development experience either as - Firmware Engineer, Hardware Engineer, Test Engineer OR System Engineer Excellent understanding of NPI/NPD (New Product Introduction/Development) process Proven track record of working with external design vendors for feature additions, troubleshooting, New Product Development tasks. Must be able to write SOW, Requirements document for external design vendors effectively. Familiarity with various IEEE, IEC, UL Standards for type testing requirements Ability to work with various Engineering disciplines to deliver product requirements. Proven track record of leading problem solving; Must be able to work hands-on in the lab with Oscilloscope, Current sources etc. Demonstrated experience of working in a fast-paced, goal-oriented product development environment, Must have the passion and aptitude for grasping new concepts, new technologies used in developing new products, Must be able to comfortably work with various cross-functional teams - Product Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Firmware team, Testing team, Offshore teams etc. Must have required diplomacy to get things done and able to act with conviction.
