Position Overview:
As the Art Director at Brilliant Earth, you will collaborate closely with the Creative Director and the broader marketing team to conceptualize, direct and execute integrated digital campaigns. Your focus will encompass the entire customer journey - from site design and email marketing to paid media, and organic social initiatives. In this role, you will ensure an elevated brand expression that aligns seamlessly with business objectives. This hybrid position requires regular on-site attendance in our Brooklyn, NY creative studio.
The targeted budget for this position is $100k-120k. This compensation budget range may be adjusted at any time at the discretion of the company.
What You'll Do:
Art Direction and Creative Execution
- Execute the brand's visual identity across multi-channel campaigns, ensuring creative executions align with business objectives and evoke emotional reactions from customers.
- Conceptualize and pitch creative strategies to secure leadership alignment
- Oversee multiple projects from concept to execution while maintaining efficient workflows, ensuring efficient utilization of resources, meeting deadlines and budget requirements
- Provide hands-on design work and daily support in navigating creative feedback, balancing priorities, and resolving production issues.
- Execute the marketing creative ideation process, contributing fresh ideas and developing mood boards, storyboards, and visual presentations.
- Oversee creative direction during content capture, working closely with talents, team members, and the creative director.
- Stay updated on industry trends, driving the continuous evolution of brand standards.
- Represent and rationalize the creative team's work in weekly leadership creative reviews.
Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor creative team members, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance and professional growth.
- Foster a team culture of partnership, positivity, and a bias toward action, inspiring and leading the team to deliver exceptional design product.
Project & Production Management
- Conduct quality checks to ensure deliverables meet technical and brand standards, partnering cross-functionally to inform and align creative approaches.
- Act as a liaison between the creative team and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and seamless coordination.
- Deliver clear direction in the production and organization of photoshoots, effectively briefing on the creative direction, ensuring time management and high-quality execution within budget.
- Oversee post-production processes, providing retouching notes and video editing feedback, and lead the selection and editing of brand imagery to maintain consistency and quality.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of art direction/design/creative experience. Retail or luxury experience is preferred.
- 2+ years of experience leading high-performing teams
- Deep, demonstrated knowledge of the luxury industry, image-making, and branding with a highly refined sensibility.
- Experience in concepting and directing video and moving images, with a focus on digital storytelling.
- Exceptional organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Expert in the Microsoft Suite, G-Suite, Figma. Robust technical aptitude.
- Experience in video editing, animation, CGI, and 3D/AR development are a plus.
- Communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and at all levels of the organization.
- An innovative and conceptual creator skilled at merging art with commerce.
- Passion for and a keen understanding of pop culture landscape, trends in social media, and performance drivers.
- Demonstrated success in building, leading and developing high-performing teams, with a track record of driving results through effective team management and mentorship.
- Strong presentation skills to articulate rationale and evoke excitement with recommendations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and quality standards.
- Portfolio: Possess a compelling portfolio showcasing distinctive work with elevated brand expressions.
