Grants Administrator I / II

Position Overview

The Grants Administrator I / II plays a crucial role in managing both pre- and post-award processes for a variety of research activities. This role ensures timely submission of grant applications, effective management of awarded grants, and compliance with both institutional and sponsor guidelines. The position acts as a key liaison with the Office of Research, enhancing support and coordination for all grant-related activities.

Education / Experience
  • Grants Administrator I: Minimum of 4 years of experience in grant preparation and management.
  • Grants Administrator II: Minimum of 5 years of experience with advanced responsibilities in grant management.
  • Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and submit grant proposals, ensuring they meet institutional and sponsor requirements.
  • Manage the financial aspects of grant projects, including budget creation, tracking expenditures, and financial reporting.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to funding agencies, ensuring compliance with all guidelines and requirements.
  • Coordinate the preparation of complex multi-investigator grant applications.
  • Provide technical advice on administrative and financial aspects of proposals, including budget justifications and indirect cost rates.
  • Organize and maintain a database of departmental and institutional resources to support grant applications.
  • Oversee the negotiation and management of subcontracts and research agreements.
  • Assist in regulatory compliance activities, including the preparation of necessary documentation for various regulatory bodies.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • High degree of initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in computer and relevant software applications, such as ERP systems (e.g., CORE Connect, Workday) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and build effective relationships across departments.
Additional Duties
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance professional growth and understanding of grants administration.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for administration regarding the scientific and financial growth of research activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the department's goals and objectives.
