As one of the largest hydroelectric generating utilities in the Northwest, our mission at Chelan PUD is to improve the quality of life for the thousands of people who call our pristine desert and mountain community home. Overview This position assists the Stehekin Operations Attendant with operating and maintaining the Stehekin Electric Facilities, including emergency repairs to the generation station and equipment. Additionally, it is responsible for keeping the facilities in a well-maintained and clean operating condition. Responsibilities Assist with minor maintenance or emergency repairs of generation station and equipment, roadways and trails, and vehicles. Isolate distribution system problems and read meters. Assist and under the direction of the operations attendant, operate district vehicles and equipment. Maintain regular and predictable attendance: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC). As an essential function, drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the District. Reports To Superintendent - Hydro Operations Overtime exemption Non-Exempt Qualifications Education Equivalent experience (year for year) may substitute for required education. No post-secondary education required. Experience Typically requires experience working in an industrial setting required. and Experience troubleshooting and repairing generation station and equipment is preferred. Licenses and Certifications Valid Driver's License at hire and WA Driver's License within 30 days of hire required. CPR -- Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation with Valid First Aid Card within 180 days required. Skills and Abilities A fully skilled incumbent will have the following knowledge skills & abilities: Must have working knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity. Working knowledge of Generation and Distribution equipment Must be knowledgeable of safe work practices. Requires the ability to understand the technologies used in the work. Must have knowledge of Stehekin, the environment and how the community communicates and supports one another. Ability to direct work in a variety of situations. Demonstrated ability to work independently and responsibly Strong problem solving ability using facts and personal judgment Ability to react quickly in emergency situations and make decisions
