Application Engineer Chassis

Job Summary:

Our client in Shelby Twp, MI is looking for an Application Engineer Chassis. This is a contract position.

This position will coordinate communication of engineering design and technical details to the US and China engineering teams for chassis mounting parts. The position will ensure programs meet technical requirements and launch on time and at budget.

It is likely to be a remote work position with routine travel to customer locations in the UK Midlands (Coventry) and France (Montbeliard/Belchamp). Additional travel to other EU locations (Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Spain, Germany) will be required.

Responsibilities:
  • Collect and distribute program technical requirements to the global engineering team for chassis mounting parts (control arm bushings, shock absorber mounts).
  • Act as the primary customer technical interface and attend regular customer meetings
  • Work with Chinese program manager to meet customer timing for design freeze, testing and tooling release
  • Forward timing from the Chinese program manager to the customer.
  • Support sales team in suppling newest technical changes for quotation completion
  • Support engineering/sales in pre-production delivery (VP and PS) tracking
  • Participate engineering document (DVP&R, DFMEA) creation as needed
  • Organize weekly APQP meetings with China, update timing and distribute to functional areas
  • Communicate APQP updates to customer as needed.
  • Review 2D prints including GD&T and functional requirements to determine if designs can meet targets
  • Support production launch with in person attendance at customer plants as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Education/Experience: Bachelor of Science in Engineering. A minimum of 2 years related experience in automotive product development.
  • Computer Skills: Computer skills must include proficiency in MS Teams and Office. Must have the ability to understand 3D models and 2D prints.
  • Certificates & Licenses: None Required
  • Other Requirements: Must be proficient in English . Travel 1-2x per month or as needed to support on-site meetings.
