24/25 Indian Education Administrative Assistant

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School graduate and one year of training beyond high school or 750 SAT score or meets established score on high school proficiency test developed by Cumberland County Schools or two years of experience in this job category. Minimum typing skill of 35 wpm.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receives telephone calls and visitors; refers calls or visitors to appropriate staff members.
Prepares, reviews and edits correspondence as assigned by the Title VII Coordinator.
Disseminates information to public based on knowledge of program rules and regulations.
Receives standardized reports and compiles data into summary or consolidated form.
Collects data from schools and compiles into required form for use of supervisor or related work assignments.
Reviews incoming mail; refers important correspondence appropriately.
Establishes and maintains files for records and correspondence in addition to sorting and distributing incoming mail.
Obtains supplies and materials for assigned staff located in various schools and Title VII, Indian Education Program's office.
Manages budgets for grants: Title VII, Arts Council, Dream Catcher Grant, Native Circles Grant (Smart Start Program) and American Indian Drop Out Prevention Grant.
Assists with staff development sessions and program meetings as assigned.
Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing diversity.
Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with schools, coworkers, parents and community leaders.
Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required.
Must possess a North Carolina Driver's License
Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) when requested, for purposes of driving a school bus.
