Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Technician to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to inspect incoming parts and assemblies to ensure they meet our stringent quality standards. This includes performing detailed inspections, utilizing various measuring tools and equipment, and documenting any non-conformances. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality assurance and a keen eye for detail.

In addition to inspection duties, this role includes serving as the Calibration Coordinator. The Calibration Coordinator is responsible for managing the factory’s calibration program, ensuring all measuring and testing equipment is regularly calibrated, maintained, and compliant with AS9100 requirements. This involves maintaining accurate records, coordinating with external calibration service providers, and ensuring that all calibration activities are well-documented and aligned with industry standards.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our quality assurance initiatives, participating in internal and external audits, and contributing to continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing product quality and manufacturing processes. This role requires excellent organizational skills, effective communication abilities, and the capability to work both independently and as part of a team. Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for verification of compliance of incoming / outgoing material to requirements and/or external specifications and standards for mechanical, electro-mechanical, optical, and/or electrical components, cabling, wire harnesses, cameras, lasers, etc.

  • Responsible for reviewing first article reports on various electrical and mechanical processes and products using variable or attribute measuring instruments and techniques.

  • Proficient with all measurement tools and techniques available for verifying physical dimensions on materials.

  • Proactively works with SQE/MEs to develops quality/inspection plans for material. Maintains quality master data in the ERP system.

  • Develops and documents inspection procedures in collaboration with supervisor and/or SQE. Based on data, modifies inspection plans.

  • Responsible for identification, communication and documentation of discrepancies found of nonconforming material and recommend disposition (DMR processing).

  • Responsible for analyzing disposition of failed materials for all commodities and coordinating resolution of DMR’d materials. Assists in root cause analysis and review of supplier corrective action reports. Prepares and analyzes quality metrics and trends.

  • Coordinates Material Review for discrepant material.

  • Duties may involve contacting suppliers and other departments directly to clarify issues and request information.

  • As a member of Operations, the inspector can perform process evaluations, data analysis and be responsible for implementing corrective actions. Responsible for initiating actions (inventory purge, WIP inspections, informing technicians, etc) when quality issues are discovered.

  • Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Normally receives no instruction on routine work, general instructions on new assignments.

  • Performs Stock movement and Quality transactions.

  • May perform Stockroom/Receiving related duties such as material receipts, stocking parts, issuing parts, cycle counting, MRB transactions, etc.

  • Administration of calibration of site’s monitoring and measurement equipment's.

Job Qualifications:

  • High school degree or equivalent (AA degree preferred)

  • Ability to use measurement equipment such as pin gauges, calipers, micrometers, multimeters, etc

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

  • Ability to follow written procedures

  • Ability to set up and use electronic test equipment

  • Interacts effectively with peers and internal and external customers - Engineers, Purchasing, Supplier, Planners, Manufacturing Associates, etc.

  • Organizational and analysis skills

  • Good communication skills, written and verbal

  • Understanding of material movement within ERP systems (SAP, for example) preferred

  • Microsoft applications familiarity. Knowledge/experience of Excel, Word, and SAP preferred

  • Experience inspecting complex mechanical/electronic parts preferred

  • Industry experience in a hands-on technical role preferred

  • Experience in an ISO certified environment and within a quality assurance/inspection function preferred

  • Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) certification preferred, through ASQ

  • Familiarity with calibration procedures for monitoring and measurement equipment preferred
