The information systems project manager will initiate, plan, startup, execute and closeout project management processes. This position is responsible for providing direction and facilitation to planning teams, coordinating staff resources, monitoring and managing project activities and ensuring project goals are achieved and status reports are completed timely and accurately. Responsibilities are performed under general supervision.

This position is with the Department of Transportation, Information System Division, providing support to the department's divisions/districts for delivery of the best IT solutions for a safe, stable and reliable transportation system in Missouri.

What you'll do:
  • Planning and managing a wide variety of projects from conception to implementation to closeout.
  • Developing project plans, SOWs, and Cost Benefit Analyses, as well as producing meeting minutes, project status updates and closeout documentation.
  • Monitor project activities, risks, and budget; and manage any changes or necessary corrective actions as needed.
  • Communicate project status to leadership, staff and partners. Present Project Management performance measures at the division level.
  • Work effectively with customers throughout the department, other IS sections and consultants to complete projects on time and on budget.
All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree: Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field; and four years of increasingly responsible professional experience, including demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams, multiple projects, and focus on several project deliverables at the same time; or
  • Associate's Degree: Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field; and six years of increasingly responsible professional experience, including demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams, multiple projects, and focus on several project deliverables at the same time.
  • Waiver of minimum requirements may be considered.
Special Working Conditions:
  • Job requires occasional, statewide, overnight travel.
  • Hybrid telework option may be considered. Full-time telework is not available.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, best practices and techniques
  • Excellent Communication, Leadership, Organization, Conflict Resolution, and Critical Thinking
  • Ability to lead a team, provide direction and take forward-thinking initiative
  • Experience with project management tools like Cloud Coach, MS Project, MS Power BI, and Excel
  • Effective planning, time management, organization and decision-making skills
  • Ability to collaborate with varying levels of professional staff, consultants and stakeholder
  • Possess strong leadership, interpersonal, consultative, negotiation and communications skills
