The work includes the set up and tear down of special events, by moving and rearranging furniture and equipment to support concerts, luncheons, dinners, receptions, educational programs, training classes, meetings, and other related activities that may be time sensitive in nature, with high demands to accomplish work at a hectic pace, on very short notice. Works on ladders, manlifts and scaffolds to clean high reaching items such as walls, venetian blinds, light lenses, ledges, and architectural moldings. The incumbent operates commercial grade floor cleaning equipment to properly sustain all the different floor surfaces throughout the Gallery. Inspects and provides daily upkeep and routine maintenance of the said equipment. Completes assigned work and sequence of tasks within the time framework of a schedule, which states the required frequency of each task. Performs the full range of cleaning duties with minimal instruction. Empties trash and cleans trash receptacles in the offices, and common areas throughout the Gallery. The incumbent assists with inventory control and stocks storage closets with housekeeping supplies such as toilet tissues, paper towels, soaps, cleaning materials. In common areas, and shops, keeps the area clean and in order. During inclement weather, may assist with snow removal operations by clearing snow and ice from sidewalks, steps, entrances, driveways, pavilion, and the plaza when needed. The incumbent assists other departments in a laborer capacity when needed. Uses computers and software applications, phones, radios, to communicate throughout the day. Uses the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to create and complete work orders, and to update the system to track labor (regular and overtime hours) and material usage. The employee is responsible for obeying all safety and health rules and using such protective equipment as is necessary to protect their health. Protective equipment is furnished by management. The incumbent participates in rotating shifts schedules and weekend duty, overtime, and is subject to recall, to support special events and emergencies to meet the NGA mission requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a United States Citizen. This employer participates in the e-Verify program. Males must abide by Selective Service registration requirements. Must be able to climb ladders, work off manlifts or scaffolding to clean high and hard to reach places. The incumbent is required to frequently lift, move, and place light to moderately heavy objects such as commercial equipment, furniture, boxes, and operate cleaning equipment. The incumbent must be able to wear personal protective equipment in all kinds of weather, as may be required by OSHA, cleaning chemical Safety Data Sheet directions, state laws, or the NGA’s safety policies.
