Description: Project Summary: This candidate will be WFH to walk a remote technician in another city through a series of steps in order to remove/add hardware components from the network rack at a store each night. That remote technician will be performing the physical labor to swap out Meraki network hardware and replace with Cato hardware. Job Description: Basic Criteria o Reliability: The candidate will show up on time and ready to work each night. A candidate who misses workdays and shows up late will put this project at risk and risks termination. o Organized Mindset: This project is not for the faint-of-heart. This contractor will be talking from the moment the clock starts, and for the next 8 hours. A 30-minute break can be built into the schedule. o Excellent spoken communication skills: The candidate will spend the entire night, each night, on a Microsoft Teams call speaking with onsite technicians and referencing documentation and data. o Home Work Environment: Since the work is after-hours and remote, the candidate is expected to have a dedicated and distraction-free work environment at home. We will provide a Windows laptop for usage during the project. o Access to reliable home internet: Since they’re using MS Teams to communicate, unreliable internet will cause the deployment to fail. The candidate must have reliable home internet and a data plan on their phone that supports hot spot. Option to go to the office. Job Description: Mandatory skills o Attention to detail: This contractor will be counted on to adhere to a set of provided instructions and walk a remote technician (in another location) through dozens of steps. They must be extremely focused and able to pay strict attention to time since the task each night must be completed in 8 hours. o Network-device-based understanding (as opposed to technicians who are portal and administration based): o Experience with Switches o Experience with SD-Wan Firewall Devices o Experience with APs o Hands-on experience installing/moving devices within a rack: o Have they ever unracked or racked network devices? o Have they ever dealt with patch panels and cable management? o Any overall experience with cleaning anything o Knowing the difference between the different type of power devices e.g., “PDU, battery backup, UPS” o Identifying all types of devices that could be in a network rack e.g., “Switch-based KVM, server, networking equipment” o Subnetting and IP schema awareness and troubleshooting: o Know the difference between subnets. o Experience with devices communicating through VLANs. o Fundamentally understanding how subnetting works and how devices need to be configured to work within a VLAN o Identifying firewall rules that would apply to VLAN traffic o Fundamental understanding of DNS Intermediate-level PC operational skills: Teams/spreadsheets/Outlook Skills: Cabling, Router, Firewall, Troubleshooting, Infrastructure, Support, Ccna, Cato, Aruba, Windows, Switches, Wan, Network infrastructure, Lan, Cable, Rack and stack, Juniper, Configuration Top Skills Details: Cabling,Router,Firewall,Troubleshooting,Infrastructure,Support,Ccna,Cato,Aruba,Windows,Switches Additional Skills & Qualifications: o CCNA or similar network certificate o Experience with using SSH to remotely connect to a switch. o Familiar / Comfortable issuing “show” type commands into a switch and understand the output. o Aruba or Cato Portal experience / Meraki Portal experience o Network portal experience: Examples: Juniper, Fortinet, Ubiquity, SonicWall, etc. o Background in Debugging or troubleshooting networks and PCs: o Examples: TraceRT/FlushDNS/IPConfig/Ping/ARP/NSLookup/GPupdate o Experience with static IPs and configuring devices to a network. o Experience with wireless networks and getting devices on Wi-Fi. o Experience with packet tracing o Basic Scripting: o Comfortable understanding basic scripting languages with PowerShell being the focus. o Knows how to review a POSH script and determine its function. o Understands how to execute a POSH script in various environments. o Is comfortable on the command line in a POSH window in using cmdlets to troubleshoot. o SharePoint experience: End user usage About TEKsystems: We're partners in transformation.
