Applications Analyst/Technical Writer

Summary:
  • Improve or author support documentation for current production apps based on Java, .Net, Coldfusion, DataStage, etc. Create or update architecture diagrams (e.g. LTA), data flow diagrams, disaster recovery plans, system support guide, etc.
  • Provide technical recommendation on simplifying/rationalizing the application landscape by reducing the different types of technologies leveraged.
  • Assist Cat Built Solution Lead in PROcure transformation program by helping document the as-is processes, functional requirements for existing, new or changes to capabilities, etc.
  • Assist Support team lead in resolution of critical incidents, coordinate team response and provide technical leadership, if needed.
Typical Day:
  • Interact with Support team on any critical issue resolution, provide technical guidance where needed.
  • Document business requirements for Caterpillar built applications in PROcure.
  • Review and update existing production app system support guide.
Technical Skills:
  • .Net, Java, DataStage, Coldfusion,
  • Technical writing
  • Author documents generated in typical software development cycle. E.g. business requirements, technical design specs, test cases, system support guide, etc.
Soft Skills:
  • Problem solving skills
  • Strong communication with IT, business partners and end users
  • Teamwork with internal and external partners
  • Author presentation material for stakeholders and business partners
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree , Prefer Computer Science Degree
