This position supports CDPH's mission and strategic plan by leading a team of Senior Personnel Specialists and Personnel Specialists and is responsible for overseeing the activities within Payroll and Benefit Services Unit A. The includes, but is not limited to, supervising, and evaluating subordinate staff who provide the full range of personnel, payroll, disability, payroll, and benefit services to their assigned CDPH Program/Unit employees; observing assignments; communicating and coordinating training; assisting with the development of work plans and monitoring deadlines; and directing the workload of the Senior Personnel Specialists. The Personnel Supervisor II (PS II) will also speak publicly at quarterly Attendance Coordinator (AC) and Personnel Liaison (PL) Meetings. Apply and interpret laws and rules from available reference manuals and other related revisions issued by the State Personnel Board (SPB), California Department of Human Resources (CalHR), State Controller's Office (SCO), California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). Prepares management reports, spreadsheets, and charts, drafts correspondence; functions as a team member on personnel related project; and acts in a lead role. The PS II also functions as a team member on personnel-related projects.

Eligible for annual Recruitment & Retention pay differential 30 days following the completion of 12 consecutive qualifying pay periods.

Annual pay schedule is as follows:

$2,400.00 after 12 or more qualifying months

$3,000.00 after 24 or more qualifying months

$3,600.00 after 36 or more qualifying months

$4,800.00 after 48 or more qualifying months

Incumbent working hours will be Monday-Friday 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.

Working Conditions

Telework Information

This position may be eligible for telework up to three (3) days per week and is required to report in-person to the designated headquarters office location a minimum of two (2) days per week. The amount of telework permitted is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change, consistent with CDPH's Telework Program. All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.

Business travel may be required , and reimbursement considers an employee's designated headquarters office subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the designated headquarters office will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
