QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Respond to referrals for speech/language assessment that includes completion of pre-assessment tasks.
- Conduct individual comprehensive speech/language assessments according to state regulations and procedures.
- Communicate speech/language assessment results/recommendations. Work with parents in all aspects of their child's educational program and facilitate improved communication skills.
- Develop, implement, monitor and review the Individual Education Program (EIP) of each student on caseload, at least annually.
- Provide appropriate instruction/therapy for eligible students based on their abilities.
- Collaborate with regular education and special education educators on an ongoing basis.
- Refer students to other specialists as needed.
- Assure all due process procedural safeguards are afforded students and their parents.
- Use carefully designed behavior management strategies, as indicated.
- Administer on an on-going basis, evaluations of student progress toward mastery of established goals and objectives specified by system's recommended program report guidelines.
- Serve as a resource to the regular education teachers and administrators regarding the needs of all communicatively handicapped children.
- Participate in professional growth activities; stay informed on new techniques and methods.
- Apply/share newly acquired professional knowledge with appropriate others.
- Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position.
- Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, and punctual manner.
- Participate in training to increase the skills and proficiency related to the assignment.
- Implement and adhere to appropriate safety procedures and crisis emergency plans to create and sustain a secure and healthy learning environment consistent with district and school rules, policies, and procedures.
- Carry out duties in accordance with federal and state laws, Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia, and established state and local policies, regulations, and practices.
- Perform, professionally and efficiently, all other duties as assigned.
