As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will take responsibility for all aspects of the environmental, health, and safety of Blue Origin's people and facilities at Rocket Park Factory and other off-site locations in the vicinity of Blue Origin's facility on the Space Coast in Florida. You must have a passion for continuous improvement of a safety culture and building agile safety processes. You must have a passion for solving complex problems, providing operable solutions, and you must be capable of acting with minimal direction on your initiative. You will be responsible for helping to maintain a culture that emphasizes accountability, discipline, and attention to detail at all levels. You will report to the Blue Origin Senior Director of Environmental Health and Safety. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedication and detailed attention toward safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities:
- This is a manager of managers' position. Incumbent will provide director-level managerial oversite of EHS managerial leadership and supervision of staff at Rocket Park Manufacturing and other Space Coast locations as assigned.
- Develop EHS standards, policies, and procedures to implement and lead EH&S programs at Rocket Park Factory and across the Enterprise as applicable.
- Provide environmental health and safety technical expertise on manufacturing safety, hazardous operations, operation of hazardous systems, process design, and operating procedures.
- Develop and interpret key EH&S performance indicators; provide performance evaluations to site management; recommend and implement performance improvement plans.
- Facilitate implementation of corrective actions and report on progress.
- Assess and identify the workplace for the presence of health, safety, and environmental concerns and make recommendations to eliminate or control identified concerns.
- Evaluate operations for continuous process improvement and implementation of preventive action measures.
- Evaluate operations, equipment, and practices for EHS compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Prepare and submit reports to federal state and local regulatory agencies as required.
- Update and ensure compliance with the Blue Origin Health and Safety Manual as necessary.
- Ensure operations are in conformance with operating plans and AFSPCMAN 91-710 as applicable.
- Build, update, and coordinate emergency response plans with state and local emergency planning committees.
- Instruct new employees on Blue Origin's safety program.
- Lead incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering, chemistry, industrial hygiene, or occupational safety or other related degree
- 7 years in large complex manufacturing operations, safety, and environmental management roles
- Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations including working knowledge of AFSPCMAN 9-710 and OSHA requirements
- Knowledge of Process Safety Management
- 7 years of managerial or supervisory experience in 3 of the 4 disciplines below:
- Aircraft, space vehicle, rocket, or other large scale manufacturing
- Hazard analysis and/or design or research and development testing of ordnance, explosives, other types of munitions, pyrotechnics, cryogenic, toxic/hypergolic propellants, high-pressure gases, radioactive materials, or other hazardous systems/components.
- Ionizing/non-ionizing radiation safety hazard analysis and/or design or research and development testing.
- Preparation and/or review and approval of hazardous operating procedures
- Knowledge of close-call reporting practices and processes
- Root cause investigation and corrective action experience
- Must be able to qualify for and wear respiratory protection equipment.
- Able to work full-time schedule, overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to pass the security background check to work at federal reservations.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion.
- Excellent communication skills, and the ability to disseminate complex information to Senior Leadership succinctly.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
- 10+ years total related work experience
- Experience in launch operations, aerospace operations, or oil and gas or chemical industry
- CSP/CIH
- 6-sigma continuous improvement knowledge; Green or Black Belt certification
