Treatment programs and specialty services at VBPC include substance abuse, dual diagnosis and partial hospitalization. Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center currently has a Mental Health Counselor/Tech (PRN/Flex/Per Diem) position available. Candidates must be available to work weekends and holidays. The candidate selected will be responsible for the following: Serves as an active member of the clinical staff. Maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients. Assists in maintenance of a safe, clean therapeutic environment. Assures patient participation in program activities. Assists in maintenance of patient health and safety. Performs technical/patient care duties. Interacts with patients, patient families, clinical team and community resources establishing relationships. Qualifications The following are the job requirements for the Mental Health Counselor/Tech (PRN/Flex/Per Diem) position: Undergraduate degree in Psychology, Human Services, Sociology, Counseling or in a related behavioral science field. Associates degree in Psychology, Human Services, Sociology, Counseling or in a related behavioral science field; one year of direct care experience working with adult psychiatric or chemical dependency clients. RNA/LPN or High School/GED Diploma; three years of direct care experience working with adult psychiatric or chemical dependency clients.
