Exemplars in Global Health ("EGH") aims to adapt successful global health solutions to new contexts by conducting research and analysis to improve funding and policy decisions, both internally and externally. Our goals are to produce high quality research to drive improvements in how policymakers and funders deal with the most pressing global health challenges.
JOB DESCRIPTION
A successful candidate will be excited to drive the end-to-end success of our research on our Nutrition portfolio, with close linkages to Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health and Women's Health. The candidate will be responsible for supporting work covering global health topics including but not limited to Maternal and Infant Nutrition and Growth, Anemia in Women of Reproductive Age, and Stunting. They will drive collaborations with top global researchers and experts to answer fundamental implementation research questions and then work to drive this research through to impact with policymakers.
This role will work to (1) help shape and contribute to ongoing research and analysis for our active Exemplars research topics (2) collaborate with a team of writers, researchers, and developers to create compelling narratives, research briefs, and other materials that will add to the global conversation, (3) support efforts to drive evidence to policy impact through engagements with external stakeholders (e.g. health ministries, multilateral institutions, funders, technical advisors), and (4) identify opportunities to continue building and strengthening EGH research topics.
Ultimately, we seek to create compelling products that will leverage evidence to support policymakers, funders, advocates, and researchers in global health decision-making.

- Research and program coordination (40%): Work closely with content experts, academic, and various external partners to shape and drive global health research related to nutrition. Run project management across workstreams from research generation through creation of country narratives and dissemination of final work products.
- Data and analytics (30%): Responsibilities will include conducting literature reviews, data analysis, rapid research on specific policies or topics of interest in collaboration with leading academics to answer policy and strategy questions for internal and external decision-makers.
- Plan, execute, and track key partner engagements (20%): Manage communications and materials development for key external engagement and meetings. Support and cultivate opportunities for research uptake and impact with key stakeholders (e.g., UNICEF, World Bank, Gates Foundation, WHO and leaders in low- and middle-income countries).
- Special projects and initiatives (10%):Support leadership in new, high-priority efforts as opportunities arise.
- 2-4+ years in an analytically and programmatically rigorous environment - global health, management consulting, data and analytics, and/or academia
- Past professional or academic experience on nutrition and/or maternal, newborn, and child health preferred
- Familiarity with dynamics of the global health ecosystem and stakeholder management
- Strong communications, including strong writing, presentations, and ability to efficiently synthesize materials
- Strong program management and organizational skills, including analytical capability with experience analyzing data sets in Excel, Stata, R, or similar software
- Track record of increasing responsibility and cultivating strong relationships with partner organizations
- Must have authorization to work in the U.S.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The salary range for this role is $95,000.00 to $105,000.00 per year. Starting salary offers will vary depending on several factors, including education, experience, and qualifications. This role also qualifies for a discretionary annual bonus. Gates Ventures offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance and a 401(k) program with employer match.
