Position Summary:

We are seeking a contractor to provide support services to achieve the operational objectives of a renowned research institute. The ideal candidate will independently handle statistical modeling, server and software management, database management, advanced web development, and data visualization. Proficiency in MATLAB, Linux, R, Python, and Shiny languages is essential. Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) is required to optimize data extraction and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical support for updating, analysing, and modifying programming systems.

Evaluate and adapt new analytic methods and software.

Develop and refine novel programming methods, toolkits, and algorithms.

Create efficient data processing pipelines for data movement, pre-processing, and display.

Apply statistical and computational techniques to solve complex analytic problems.

Improve communication between experimental equipment for data storage and processing.

Develop and utilize technology for dynamic web applications and scientific software tools.

Maintain and monitor applications, databases, or software tools.

Develop scientific applications using R, Shiny, and/or Python for analysing diverse datasets.

Document programming problems, resolutions, and maintain software documentation.

Provide support for database and hardware/software maintenance, including troubleshooting.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field, with at least 1 year in statistical modeling.

Expertise in MATLAB, R languages, PostgreSQL, GitHub, Linux, Python, and/or Shiny.

Strong skills in statistical modelling, server and software management, database management, web development, and data visualization.

Experience with algorithm development and multi-core/high-performance computing systems.

Additional Requirements:

Develop backup strategies for data and applications.

Design and implement bioinformatics databases and improve integration between software tools.

Troubleshoot and support development methods in data science and facility users.

Ability to access the Animal Facility and work on equipment within the facility.
