Functions as primary Screening Specialist in the Universal Newborn Hearing Screening Program. Performs automated hearing screening for WBN, NICU, PICN1, PICN2, CV Surgery and other inpatient floors. Provides support to the Coordinator of the NHSP. Uses full understanding of the scope of his/her technical skills and responsibilities in the organization, exercises initiative to complete assigned tasks, identifies and implements proactive measures, and solves problems that arise in day to day situations. Collaborates with others. Exercises self-direction and examines one's performance critically to improve work habits and process, including organizational skills and interactions with others.

Essential Functions

Employees must abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including but not limited to sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patient rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.
  • Screen babies 6 months and under as part of the NHSP.
  • Daily walk through of WBN, NICU, PICN1, and PICN2 and other inpatient floors to update and organize binders and ALGO machine carts.
  • Maintain screening units, perform routine checks and arrange for service calibration as needed.
  • Check screening supplies regulary. Request supplies as needed and keep documentation of distribution.
  • Obtain hard copy screening results and place into appropriate binder on daily basis.
  • Download hearing screening data daily into DMS.
  • Obtain individual patient screening records at request of Supervisor.
  • Work on special projects as requested.
  • Helps coordinate ALGO volunteers schedule and routines with nursery staff as needed.
  • Assist in providing orientation to new ALGO volunteers and nursing staff as needed.
  • Submit all billing for the program.
  • Schedule follow up appointments for all the babies that REFER or as needed according to the NHSP protocol.
  • Work on special projects such as volunteer/nurse training seminars and volunteer appreciation events as needed.
  • Assists in the participation of public information events, volunteer fairs, etc. to promote LPCH and the NHSP.
  • Work on special projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Experience: One (1) year of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.

Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $78,561.60 to $89,169.60
