The KLA Services team headquartered in Milpitas, CA is our service organization that consists of Service Sales and Marketing, Spares Supply Chain management, Field Operations, Engineering, Product Training, and Technical Support. The KLA Services organization partners with our field teams and customers in all business sectors to maintain the high performance and productivity of our products through a flexible portfolio of services. Our comprehensive services include: proactive management of tools to identify and improve performance; expertise in optics, image processing and motion control with worldwide service engineers, 24/7 technical support teams and knowledge management systems; and an extensive parts network to ensure worldwide availability of parts.

Job Description

We are seeking for a New and Sustaining Pproduct Service Engineer

In this role you will serve as the central technical interface resource with design engineering, manufacturing, technical support, quality, marketing and field as the product(s) move through the Product Life Cycle. The selected candidate will work directly with aforementioned teams to incorporate valuable serviceability, reliability and service business practice improvements into product design. The Product Engineer works to optimize serviceability, reduce cost-of-service through all stages of the PLC, andimprove short and long term product service revenue performance. Involvement lasts throughout all stages of a product's lifecycle to ensure system level product performance is continuously tracked and meets established specification by driving continuous improvement of system hardware, diagnostics and software, tooling, technical documentation, knowledge management, and training.

Job Scope:

  • This is NOT a PC, IT technical support position.
  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor system operations, processes, system integration, and system calibrations.
  • Influence early PLC designs to include features that will optimize KLA's service business: calibrations and diagnostics, Cost of Service (CoS), reliability, design tolerances, Intellectual Property (IP) protection.
  • Act as a two-way conduit of information between design teams, engineering, manufacturing, tech support and service personnel.
  • Able to step into a challenging beta, eval, install or sustaining critical issues, analyze data from various sources and work with division (DE) and manufacturing (MDE) experts as needed to provide detailed action plans (POA) suitable for execution by Customer Service Engineers (CSE) and Technical Support Engineers (TSE).
  • Leverage learning and knowledge across the Tech Support organization through training classes, scripts, coaching, documents and updating other knowledge capture tools.
  • Works with Learning and Knowledge Services (LKS) to settle training requirements for new products and/or upgrades. Trains the trainer and teach or co-teach initial courses. Audits service training courses to ensure content and delivery quality.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Physics, Optics or Electrical/Mechanical engineering
  • Masters / PhD degree in Engineering preferred
  • 2-3 years of semiconductorcapital equipment - desired
  • Ability to travel ~30% globally as needed for extended periods of 1-4 weeks
  • Spectroscopic and Single Wavelength Ellipsometry or similar technology experience desirable
  • KLA or similar Optical metrology and inspection equipment experience preferred
  • Hands on system level solving experience
  • Experience using diagnostics test equipment (DVM, Oscilloscope, Power Meter, etc.)
