The Catholic School Counselor fulfills the mission of the Church by guiding students to live virtuous lives in service to society and the Church as he or she promotes and enhances the academic, spiritual, social/emotional, and personal development of all students. "The Catholic school is committed thus to the development of the whole man, since in Christ, the Perfect Man, all human values find their fulfillment and unity. Requirements

The part-time Catholic School Counselor is a highly skilled professional person who works in close collaboration with the principal so that he/she may effectively give counsel to the students entrusted to his/her care. The important role that a counselor plays should be permeated by a Christ-like orientation which is seen daily in what the counselor says and does in working with students. The purpose of this position is to provide guidance to students in need and to instruct students in healthy and holy ways as they are formed in grades Pre-K - 8. The Counselor promotes the coordination of school activities and resources and communicates between and among home, school and community agencies.

Qualifications necessary in an applicant
  • Practicing Catholic in good stand and strong commitment to Catholic education
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (minimum)
  • Licensure in current placement, certified by the Commonwealth of Virginia or Diocese of Richmond
  • Superior communication skills (written and spoken)
  • Superior interpersonal, organizational, and managerial skills
  • Enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and flexibility with needs of school
  • Hardworking, collaborative team member


This is a 10-month position with working hours planned to be Tuesday-Thursday, 7:30am - 3:30pm per school calendar set by the Office of Catholic Schools.
