This role is in Fort Wayne, Indiana, at the Stillwater Campus on Homestead Road.

You will be working 40 hours each week

POSITION TITLE: MEDICAL RECORDS

FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT

REPORTS TO: Director of Support Services

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

Responsible for maintaining medical records, processing admission and discharge charts, medical data entry, processing reports and orders for attending physicians and nursing facilities, and managing external medical records requests.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Skilled in the use of personal computers
  • Knowledgeable in Excel and Word
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Must possess exceptional organizational skills
  • Basic knowledge of office equipment, including fax machines, copiers, typewriters
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful environments
  • Ability to work in harmony with others
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality of patient information
  • Must display accurate skills in proofreading and record-keeping
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of organization policies and procedures
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to accept directions willingly
  • Ability to interact with a diverse group of people
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks
  • Must have an Indiana motor vehicle operator's license and have access to an
  • automobile with current automobile insurance coverage.
  • High school graduate with a minimum of five years office experience or comparable training
  • Business/medical secretarial education or comparable experience preferred
  • Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to the health and/or safety of self or others in the workplace
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Processing patient admissions, re-certifications, and discharges
  • Processing and tracking admission and re-certification orders
  • Processing and tracking supplemental orders
  • Compiling and maintaining patients' medical records
  • Assembling patient charts
  • Processing POST documents
  • Performing medical record filing
  • Following up on medical record requests
  • Gross-sorting and fine-sorting documents for Medical Records
  • Adherence to all Agency policies
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
  • Adheres to Stillwater Hospice privacy practices as described in the Notice of
  • Privacy Practices
  • When requested, participate in quality improvement activities and/or other agency committees or task forces.

The published compensation range for this position reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full-time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The base pay may be higher or lower based on demonstrated job-related experience.
