Job Title: Medical Records Technician

Job Summary:

The Medical Records Technician will be responsible for maintaining and managing patient medical records to ensure compliance with regulations and to support high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Organize and maintain patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Retrieve and file patient records, ensuring timely access for healthcare providers.
  • Assist in the preparation of medical records for audits, reviews, and legal requests.
  • Update patient information in electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Process incoming requests for medical records from patients, providers, and authorized third parties.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure that documentation is complete and compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining record management systems and procedures.
  • Provide support for billing and coding processes as needed.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in health information management or a related field is preferred.
  • Possess a minimum of one year of experience within the last three years working as a full-time medical records clerk in a hospital, clinic, or doctor's office.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and healthcare regulations.
  • Must possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (American Red Cross or American Heart Association only).
