Position: Title One Teacher

Responsible To: Building Principal

Qualifications:
  1. Preferred Special reading K-12 Certified
  2. Teaching Certification In Assigned Area
  3. Masters Degree preferred
  4. 5-8 years Classroom experience preferred
Primary Responsibilities:

To provide the kind of instruction and learning environment that will enable each student in the District to master the reading and /or math skills appropriate to age, grade level, and individual capacity. Also to maintaining reporting and eligibility for the district in the area of Title I with DESE

Term Of Employment:

Base annual contract of 10 months or per approved school calendar staff days plus 10 additional days as needed with a separate stipend.

Compensation:

In accordance with the district approved payscale

Paid Time Off (PTO):

10 days to be used in increments of full or half. No designation of sick or personal required.

Evaluation:

All teachers will be evaluated annually by Building Principal, or other supervisors as approved by the Board of Education

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Participates in or confers with the District's Testing Coordinator in setting up a district-wide testing program to determine the reading abilities of all students and to identify those needing special help.
  2. Plans and actively executes the Title One reading and math program.
  3. Provides support, instruction, training, and updates on district curriculum/software that are data based programs i.e. MobyMax, USA Test Prep, ESGI, AR and STAR.
  4. Interprets student needs and progress in reading and/or math instruction to the classroom teacher and the parents.
  5. Plans and implements an advanced reading program as necessary.
  6. Provides leadership and coordination in the regular program of reading instruction.
  7. Recommends adoption and use of varied instructional materials, including textbooks, reference works, kits, trade books, audiovisual aids, computer aids.
  8. Conducts in service workshops and demonstrations pertinent to methods and materials appropriate to various levels of reading and/or math instruction.
  9. Consults with members of the faculty at individual data meetings and compiles district data.
  10. Confers with parents concerning individual students having special reading and/or math problems or requiring special instructional help, and with any parents requesting such a conference.
  11. Interprets, as appropriate, test results and statistical data concerning reading/math to the administration, staff, and public at large.
  12. Assists with the developments of special instructional programs for handicapped students.
  13. Establishes a broadly based reading materials center.
  14. Individual reading/math records are kept on students.
  15. Devises and maintains such records and reports as are necessary to the successful execution of the job.
  16. Assists in preparation and administration of departmental budget.
  17. Implements district responses to and interventions (RTI) in the form of pull outs and push ins for students that need extra support based on collected data from classroom assessments and Title data review.
  18. Works with the Title I Coordinator to support and ensure that the district is Title I compliant able to retain or increase funding annually
  19. Completes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Supervisory Duties:

Teachers will be assigned various supervisory positions as deemed necessary. Title Teachers will also have Title requirements outside the normal contractual days to stay in good standing with DESE to maintain eligibility inthe program.

Skills and Abilities

Must be willing to learn and comply with district initiatives that involve technical and program skills. Such as but not limited to Student Information Systems (SIS) and online curriculums, as well as proficiency with computer based communication expectations.

Attendance:

Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position. Must follow district policy on employee absences.

Computation:

Ability to define problems, locate and reference district and state level curriculum and, or learning standards, and draw valid conclusions. Demonstrate computer competency in a wide spectrum of functions, ability to provide support for the District inventory, resource managers, and word processing technology programs including: demonstrated ability to learn and apply computer technology skills rapidly.

Hearing:

Must be able to hear a conversation in a noisy environment .

Language:

An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:
  • Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English.
  • Preset information to students in an organized, and professional manner, which conveys professionalism to students, parents, peers, and stakeholders appropriately.
  • Read, analyze and interpret administrative correspondence and directives as well as Board policy and handbooks.
  • Keep student information confidential according to FERPA when required by law, except for from the building administration.


Physical Demands:

An individual who holds this position must frequently move in and around buildings and grounds, attend meetings and supervise designated areas. Frequently required to stand, walk; sit; use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.

Technology:

Basic computer skills, ability to learn new programs quickly, and manage the following: Basic Computer Word Processing, and Google Suites.

The work environment is consistent with a typical office environment; however, the individual who holds this position will occasionally be required to be outside in temperatures below freezing and above 100 degrees.

The individual who holds this position is occasionally, as designated in their contract, required to work irregular or extended hours for specific school events, such as school programs or conferences.
