Sleep Lab Technician

DEFINITION:
Under the supervision of the Cardiopulmonary Manger and/or Sleep Lab Supervisor, performs and evaluates diagnostic exams utilized to evaluate various sleep and neurological disorders. Will be able to provide patient care activities to include adult, pediatric and neonatal patients.
EDUCATION:
High school graduate or GED preferred.
REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS (IF APPLICABLE):
If RPSGT or CPSGT is not already held, candidates must obtain Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) or Registered Polysomnographic Technician (RPSGT) within one year of hire. For candidates that already hold Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials, the Sleep Disorder Specialist (SDS) credential is a satisfactory alternative to the CPSGT and RPSGT credentials and must be obtained within six months of hire if not already held. Candidates not already holding one of the above credentials will work under direct supervision of credentialed staff until above listed credentials are obtained.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
None
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of college with background in health sciences or current student of health sciences program desirable.
One year polysomnograph experience preferred.
EEG technical training desirable.
