Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Specialty: Medical-Surgical

Job Duration: 13-week contract

Shift: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM every other weekend, 3x11.5-hour shifts

Guaranteed Hours: 34.5 hours

Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a medical unit; 1 year of travel experience preferred but not required for Per Diem positions

License: RN License

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)

Must-Have:
- EPIC experience highly preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; Associate degree considered with relevant experience or active enrollment in a BSN program

Job Description:

- Deliver patient care by incorporating Relationship-Centered Care and the nursing process based on theory, research, and evidence-based practice.
- Assess and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills.
- Integrate assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care.
- Prioritize all aspects of patient care, including teaching, rounding, coaching, discharge planning, and delegation.
- Educate patients and caregivers on care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team.
- Manage assignments using Modified Primary Nursing and effectively allocate resources.
- Role model the tenets of relationship-centered care through actions such as Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, and Purposeful Hourly Rounding.
- Consider patient values, preferences, diversity, and needs in all aspects of care.
- Establish/maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Use evidence-based practices to enhance patient perception of care.
- Address and escalate patient/family concerns to management as needed.
- Demonstrate care, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening in communications.
- Engage in proactive, evidence-based quality and safety practices.
- Contribute to process improvement strategies and peer review processes.
- Collaborate on quality improvement projects and nursing research.
- Participate in formal and informal professional development opportunities.
- Perform charge nurse duties and ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Document accurately in compliance with standards of care.
- Facilitate patient throughput and contribute to a supportive care environment.
- Engage in lifelong learning and pursue advancements in clinical competence.
- Incorporate ethical principles in decision-making for patient and family care.
- Participate in shared decision-making processes and unit initiatives.
