Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)

Shift: 7P-7:30A, Flexible Scheduling, 3 days x 11.5 Hours
Guaranteed Hours: 34.5 Hours
Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience, including 2 years of post-open heart and cardiac care unit experience
License: RN license
Certifications: BLS
Must-Have: EPIC experience highly preferred, excellent organizational skills

Job Description:

- Deliver patient care using the tenets of Relationship Centered Care and the nursing process based on theory, research, and evidence-based practice.
- Assess and evaluate patient care needs using critical thinking skills to manage patient care effectively.
- Integrate relevant assessment and intervention skills in delivering nursing care.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate patient plans of care.
- Prioritize aspects of patient care, including teaching, rounding, coaching, planning after hospital care, and appropriate delegation.
- Educate patients and caregivers about care plans, transitions, health promotion, and disease prevention while anticipating needs and readiness to learn.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, their families, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team.
- Manage assignments following the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing.

Patient Experience:

- Model Relationship Centered Care through various actions including Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, AM/PM Care, Purposeful Hourly Rounding, Medication Review, and Discharge Wrap-Up.
- Consider patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge in all aspects of care.
- Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with patients and their families.
- Use evidence-based practices to enhance patients' perceptions of care.
- Initiate service recovery for patients and families with concerns, escalating to appropriate nursing management as needed.
- Demonstrate caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening.

Quality and Safety:

- Practice safe patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement.
- Demonstrate essential clinical skills and knowledge for quality and safety in the patient population served.
- Implement process improvement strategies using institutional, evidence-based protocols.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on quality improvement projects and nursing research studies.
- Contribute to quality and safety practices and compliance measures.
- Utilize institutional information technology to document nursing practice for quality and performance improvement initiatives.

Operations:

- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
- Coordinate with management to ensure supplies are appropriately utilized and inventory is sufficient.
- Demonstrate patient-focused and cost-effective approaches to care regarding equipment, staff, and resources.
- Accurately document in compliance with hospital, regulatory, and legal requirements.

Professional Development:

- Support colleagues' clinical development, life-long learning, and innovation.
- Contribute to shared decision-making within specialty practice councils and nursing department committees.
- Advance clinical competence in nursing practice and project a professional image.

Educational Qualifications: Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing preferred. An Associate degree in nursing is considered with relevant experience and/or active matriculation in a BSN Program.
