Our programs include resource and referral services for families seeking child care, child care subsidies for qualifying families, recruitment and professional development of the child care workforce, and family education and support. We are seeking individuals who are highly organized, have the ability to multi-task, provide excellent customer service, have good problem solving skills and have the ability to understand the problems and issues facing families from a variety of ethnic and economic communities. Position Purpose & Scope: Under the direct supervision of Program Supervisor, the Child Care Navigator has a broad knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of early childhood education and this position is primarily responsible for providing childcare referral services that assure the provision of accurate and timely information to the public and technical assistance and outreach to parents, childcare providers and communities. The incumbent evaluates and maintains program eligibility and provides day-to-day case management services to families enrolled in the Foster Care Bridge Program. The Child Care Navigator assist families with navigating complex program requirements, childcare referral services and other supportive services and community resources that assure the provision of accurate and timely information to Resource Families and the public. The Child Care Navigator is responsible for knowing all guidelines, regulations, and policies developed and set forth by the Board of Directors and the Director of Community Services. Typical Duties: Provide childcare information, resources and referrals to the general public Provide counseling and support for families to assist with their childcare search Provide information and assistance to families in accessing community services Provide information on childcare eligibility and subsidy programs to assist families with securing long-term childcare Provide assistance and ongoing support to families with their enrollment on the Child Care Eligibility List (CEL) Perform new family enrollment for the Foster Care Bridge Program and manage a caseload Verify Foster Care Bridge Program referral information to complete client enrollment for Foster Bridge Program childcare services Review program policies, guidelines and expectations with the parent and childcare provider Maintain caseload within established procedures and deadlines to ensure funding compliance Communicate regularly with the resource family, child welfare worker, and social worker to assess childcare opportunities and provide information Provide technical assistance on childcare, child development, and parenting issues Process childcare provider payment for Foster Care Bridge Program Ensure childcare provider billing form is received for payment Check childcare provider billing form for accuracy and completeness Use Regional Market Rates and childcare schedule to calculate payment Enter payment calculation into database Reconcile outstanding payment records according to deadlines May assist in checking the work of other Child Care Specialist Navigator Maintain resource files and information on childcare and child development services Collect, maintain, and provide information on childcare supply and demand Maintain information and database of broad range of childcare services in Sacramento County Maintain knowledge of the principles of a trauma-informed approach and trauma-specific interventions Conduct regular enrollment and updating of childcare providers in the referral files including listing of trauma informed care providers Participate as a contributing member of the Child Action, Inc. Resource and Referral Program Integrate strengths-based strategies into services provided to parents and childcare providers Participate in Community Education including community fairs and events Attend staff meetings, training and unit meetings Participate in staff development and community training opportunities Participate in the assessment, planning, and development of program services Document and track participant activity for program reports and service planning Provide technical assistance and referrals to walk-in clients Register and facilitate workshops, training, and educational opportunities for caregivers, childcare professionals, and parents Proactively looks for solutions to increase efficiency of workflow Perform other duties as assigned
