Department Function: The Social Impact Accelerator (SIA) develops and implements processes, systems, and structures to facilitate, coordinate, and hold IFF accountable for equity in practice, cross-functional collaboration, innovation, scaling of impact, and systems change. SIA comprises five interdependent functions: Strategic Insights; Strategic Response; Organizational Learning; Sector-Based Strategy; and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Strategic Insights leads IFF's knowledge gathering and sense-making and stewards a data-informed culture by growing, developing and nurturing IFF's data assets and supporting data-informed decision making and strategy for IFF, as well as our customers and the communities we serve.

Basic Job Function

The Data Engineer is responsible for creating, maintaining, and supporting synchronization of data both across core business applications and between those applications and data warehouses.

Requirements

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborates with Data Architect and Chief Data Officer to select vendors/products/methods for data integration and synchronization.
  2. Build and execute ETL processes from multiple, disparate data sources such as flat files, web services/APIs, databases, etc.
  3. Develop and deploy data pipelines using Python, Fivetran, and Microsoft Azure (Synapse, SQL Server, etc...) best practices.
  4. Creates, manages, and maintains pipelines necessary to achieve error-free data integration/synchronization, both across core business applications and between those applications and data warehouses.
  5. Provides training and support for IFF technical staff regarding data integration and synchronization.
  6. Receives and resolves escalated incident reports involving data integration and synchronization.
  7. Assists Applications Administrator and Data Architect, as needed.
  8. Performs related duties, as required.

  1. Ensures error-free data integration/synchronization across core business applications and between those applications and data warehouses.

Position Qualifications:

Education : Bachelor's Degree required in computer science, engineering, or applied mathematics. Or equivalent experience in a similar position. Highly proficient programmer, particularly as it relates to API coding, data integration, and data synchronization.

Previous Experience : Two years of experience in data engineering, or a closely related field. Experience with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud Services strongly preferred.

Additional Requirements : Occasional evening and weekend work.
