A professional services firm in Texas is currently seeking an experienced Tax professional to join their staff in Dallas as their new SALT Tax Manager.

Responsibilities:

The SALT Tax Manager will:

  • Obtain, review and reconcile client data to prepare sales and use tax returns
  • Efficiently and timely import data, within the deadline, in the sales tax compliance software system to prepare/process the sales tax returns
  • Supervise timely delivery of all sales tax compliance functions
  • Actively document and review sales and use tax compliance processes
  • Provide process improvement recommendations and execute all necessary process improvements as approved by the compliance leadership team
  • Directly work with clients to solve their various sales and use tax compliance related matters
  • Assist clients in setting up their sales and use tax decision matrix in various sales tax calculation engines, as requested by the compliance leadership team
  • Assist clients with multi-state sales and use tax registration projects, as requested by the compliance leadership team
  • Work closely with external software vendors to create efficiency in sales and use tax compliance process
  • Assist with new client onboarding process
  • Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of Tax Compliance Management experience
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Previous experience in performing tax research and technical tax return review required
  • Experience in training and supervising junior staff
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Solid analytical and mathematical skills
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized
Desired Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • CPA and/or CMI
  • Previous experience working with Vertex - sales and use tax preparation software (OneSource, Avalara, and/or Vertex)
