Amphenol CIT is looking for Mechanical Design Engineer IIIto join our team located in Franklin, WI.

Job Description

SUMMARY

A Mechanical Design Engineer II designs and maintains mechanical and aircraft structures within a cross-functional Engineering team. They work on advanced, high-performance electromechanical systems and components, integrated structures, and control panels for aircraft entertainment, navigation, and communication systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Design, control, and implement mechanical structures and products.
  • Develop manufacturing processes according to global engineering codes and standards.
  • Collaborate with technicians and computer programmers to solve emerging issues.
  • Manage engineering projects and deliver them on time.
  • Define customer needs and requirements.
  • Ensure that installations and applications align with customer needs and safety standards.
  • Research to create new applications.
  • Perform quality and performance analysis on new and legacy IT systems.
  • Summarize data and report on test results.
  • Examine needs for new equipment, calculate costs, and help prepare budgets.
  • Continuously improve company products and processes.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field of study and three (3) years of experience.
  • 10+ years’ experience in manufacturing aircraft mechanical structures and avionics systems in place of a bachelor’s degree will be considered.
  • Experience in the aerospace, military, and defense industries or cable assembly businesses preferred.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Conversational in any other language preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Basic arithmetic: add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Statistics: Interpret and analyze numerical data using statistical methods.
  • Basic algebra: The ability to manipulate symbols and equations to find unknown values, express relationships, and model situations.
  • Basic Geometry: The ability to understand and work with shapes, angles, lines, and planes.
JOB SKILLS
  • Intermediate Level in MS Office, including Excel, Word, Teams, and SharePoint, is necessary.
  • Experience with ERP systems, SAP preferred.
  • Skills in the use of 2D and/or 3D design software.
  • Knowledge about operating and designing aircraft structures and avionics systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with regulatory certification requirements for aircraft mechanical structures and avionics systems is a plus.
  • Ability to be flexible and function comfortably in a fast-paced, constantly changing, and ambiguous environment while maintaining a positive team environment.
  • Understanding and experience in a Lean manufacturing environment are preferred.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and 5S-related performance teams.
  • Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions and read blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

As part of their job duties, the employee must sit for lengthy periods while operating a computer. They frequently use their hands to type, handle objects, and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds. This role requires lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, reaching at or below shoulder level, and keyboarding.   • ASTM F–2412–2005, ANSI Z41–1999, or ANSI Z41–1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas.

  • Hearing protection in specific locations.
  • Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas.
